"Wake up," Emily said shaking me.
"I'm up, whats going on," I questioned before yawning and rubbing my eyes to get a better focus on the room.
"Lucy is here she thinks that you might want to try a foster home again so she wants to talk to you. Get up! Oh, and the people that want you to stay with them are here, you know, just in case," Emily said before running over to the dresser to find me some clothes then running out of the room. It didn't take me long to change but I was very nervous.
Once I walked into the living room I saw an old man and a girl that looked to be Caleb's age so she was probably 17 or 18.
"Good morning sleepy head," Lucy said smiling. "This is Mr. Blake and his daughter Georgia," Lucy added pointing to the two. Mr. Blake was tall and had thin gray hair he was also bladding in the back of his head. He had a long gray beard and was wearing a fadded red and black flannel with old dusty looking jeans and old brown boots. Georgia had long blonde hair kind of like me but she had ice blue eyes that matched her fathers. Georgia was wearing a pastel pink dress with short white heels.
"Its very nice to meet you Summer," said Georgia stepping a little closer.
"Yes," said Mr. Blake also stepping a little closer.
"Hi," I responded waiting for Lucy to say something.
"Well Summer Mr. Blake and Georgia will be driving you to their house instead of me. That is if you want to go," Lucy said looking at me waiting for an answer.
"Ummm," I said looking at Mr. Blake then at Georgia. They looked very nice but I didn't want to leave Emily again. What if she was gone if I came back? What if they decide to keep me? So many what ifs. "Sure, I'll try again."
"Ok then, great! Could you go pack your bags while I talk to the Blake's about something," Lucy said both happy and looking like she needed to be somewhere soon.
"Yes ma'am," I said before almost running back to my room. Again it didn't take me very long to pack my things and within minutes I was back in the living room. "I'm ready," I said with a slight ounce of happiness in my voice.
"Just in time," Lucy chimed. "Have fun!"
"Thank you. Have a nice day," Georgia said.
"Yes, thank you," said Mr. Blake
"Bye Lucy," I said before exiting with the Blakes. At the end of the driveway there was an old red truck waiting. Georgia walked over to the passenger side and opened the door that lead the the back seats with some trouble.
"In you go," she said grabbing my hand to help me in.
"Thank you," I replied while buckling my seat belt. Mr. Blake got in the drivers side and Georgia sat in the front passenger seat.
We drove for about 45 minutes before there was less and less houses and more trees and fields.
"Have you ever been to the country," Georgia questioned turing around in her seat to look at me.
"No," I said looking out the window with excitement and amazement.
"So your a city girl," Mr. Blake said looking in the rearview mirror. "You can call me Brad," he added.
"Yes, ok," I said looking at him then turing my head to look out the window. The country was beautiful with its tall trees, tall grasses and weeds on the sides of the roads and the fields filled with corn, wheat, or other crops that I couldn't name.
"So, how old are you," Georgia questioned in her sweet voice.
"I just turned 10 last Monday," I responded realizing that we didn't celebrate. There was no cake or gifts except for the gift Lucy had given me.
"Really did you do anything special?"
"No, it actually wasn't special at all, I was still with the Johnson's."
"Oh, well if you want we could do something tomorrow," Georgia questioned then looking at her dad. He looked back and slightly nodded his head. "We can have cake, I'll get you some gifts and we can do something fun, how does that sound," Georgia questioned again.
"Really, thank you! It already sounds fun!"
"Yay!"
10 minutes later we arrived at an old farm house that had white chipping paint. It was two stories each floor had large windows. There was a porch that wrapped around the entire house. Near the front door there was an old swinging bench. In the back yard there was a gaint old oak tree with a tire swing hanging from one of the strong gnarled branches. Once we came to a stop in the distance was loud barking, then came a black Labrador Retriever. Georgia opened the door for me again when the dog jumped up and almost knocked me down.
"Down daisy down," Georgia said pulling the dog down. Daisy finally calmed down enough so I could get out.
"This is Daisy she is two years old," Georgia said holding Daisy back. "I hope your not allergic to dogs?"
"Hi Daisy, and I'm only allergic to cats," I responded as I started to pet Daisy.
"Ok, we don't have any cats," Brad said. "Now let's get inside and show you around," he added opening the door.
As soon as we walked in the place smelt like vanilla.
"Follow me," Georgia said motioning me to follow her up the stairs. I followed close behind her. "I'll show you were you can sleep while you stay here," she added when we got to the top of the stairs. "Here it is," Georgia said opening a door. When she opened the door there was a small bed with white sheets and a homemade quilt in the corner. There was a window inbetween the bed and dresser that matched the night table. Both the dresser and nightstand were wood and had a dark brown stain. Other than that there was a basket of stuffed animals and a lamp in the corner.
"Its not much," Georgia said opening the window because it was a little stuffy in here.
"I like it," I said putting my suitcase on the bed as I started to unpack.
"Oh, there are some clothes in the dresser. I'll find more of my old clothes if you would like?"
"Ok, thank you," I said as I opened the top drawer of the dresser to find some neatly folded clothes.
"I will be right back," Georgia said as she turned to leave. Georgia came back not long after with a pile of clothes in her hands. "Here you can go through and pick out what you like."
"Ok thank you," I said as I started to look through the pile. I kept all of them because they all were very pretty. The rest of the day went by in a flash. Most of the day Georgia and Brad showed me around the property. For dinner we had corn on the cob, Mac n' Cheese, salad and steak. By 8 O'Clock I was ready for bed. Georgia tucked me in and I fell asleep very quickly.
