You want me to do what now?! {Chapter 9}

Recap:

"Sir, sir, alpha, alpha, Richard!!!! There's a... vampire here... to see... her!" He puffed out with his hand on his knee, trying to catch his breath while the other hand was pointing at me. I had just learnt two things. Number one, James and Calvin were the alpha's sons and number two vampires also existed.

Isn't that just peachy.

I froze in position, staring at the boys face and then his hand and then back again in utter bewilderment. He couldn't be right could he? There must be someone else who has the same name or looks like me because as far as I know I am definitely not friends or even acquaintances with any vampires am I? I just found out they exist for Christ's sake! Everyone turned back to look at me with curious expressions.

"A-a-are you sure?" I finally managed to stutter out. He nodded solemnly, having caught his breath rather swiftly. I shrugged at the others trying to fix my calm facade in place but inside I was shaking in my converse. "Well then, let's go see what the leach wants." I joked shakily, edging ever so slightly closer to James for comfort, hoping that no one would see. Thankfully the only person who noticed was James because of the god damned stupid soul mate connection thing, so he pulled me to him with a protective arm around my waist. I glanced gratefully up at him before following Richard who was now striding with purpose into the house. I could hear him muttering something under his breath and I strained to distinguish what he was saying but quickly tuned him out when I heard he was uttering curses that would make a sailors hair curl. I guess the werewolf verses vampire feud was no joke then.

My heart started pounding when I caught sound of a quiet but heated argument going on somewhere nearby. We were close enough now that I could hear the conversation clearly.

"Hold on bloodsucker they're on their way now." A low growling voice rumbled agitatedly.

"Well they're not getting here fast enough!" A silkier, smoother voice whipped out harshly.

"Well, we're here now." Rickard said in a voice cooler than dry ice, making even me cringe slightly although I wasn't the subject of the statement, as he opened the double doors into a rather formal looking lounge. I kept my eyes trained on the ground, terrified that if I looked up the whole reality of it all would crash on me. The twisted reality that a vampire was here to see ME. I heard James' small, sharp intake of breath beside me and that just brought my curiosity to a peak, making me slowly raise my head to look at the "visitor" that had come to see me. I felt my eyes widen and my breath hitch as I looked into the face of the person that I least wanted to see. Chris. I must have been staring transfixed at him because next thing I knew, I was being snapped out of my reverie by James' snarl and his arm pushing me behind his back. I placed a soothing arm on his shoulder and stepped around him to see a very furious looking Chris who was staring at my wrist where the mark was.

"Seriously Chris, I honestly thought that this stalking business ended when I got David to start sleeping at my house again." I told him like I was scolding a five year old, pushing my panic to a far corner of my mind. "Now is there something you want to tell me?" I asked him, raising my eyebrow expectantly. I couldn't get over the fact that I had been going out with the guy for two years and the subject of him being a different species had somehow never cropped up.

"Um, well, yeah. I'm a... um... vampire." He muttered, suddenly extremely nervous.

"No shit Sherlock." I sneered. "Two years Chris and you never thought to tell me that one of your most favourite past times was draining blood?!" I roared at him, letting my anger rise. I vaguely felt James arm around me tighten and saw Chris' face crumple slightly more in fury as he spotted the movement. He slowly dragged his eyes off James' skin on mine to my face with an accusing look on his face. "Don't you look at me like that; I wasn't the one who cheated on you with your best friend now was I?" I spat at him getting worked up. How dare he storm in here and ruin things when my life getting even the slightest bit alright.
