You want me to do what now?! {Chapter 13}
Recap:
"Nope, even us wolves know to have a good formal bash." He informed me in a fake haughty voice. I laughed quietly before slipping into my black peep-toe heels and grinning at him.
"Now I'm ready to party."

James squeezed my hand for what must be the hundredth time as we stood outside the huge oak doors to what he told me was the ballroom. We had been waiting for five minutes for our names to be announced and already I had tried to make a break for it about nine times. I could hear a lot of talking coming from the other side of the doors, loud enough that I was suspecting that it wasn't only 45 werewolves in there and that made me even antsier than before. I turned around and tried to make a break for it again just as I heard a loud, booming voice.
"James Halton, son of alpha and his mate Evangeline Grey." The voice called so I quickly collected myself and stood next to James, glancing up at him with a glare but he just grinned at me with approval on his features. I couldn't help it so I just smiled back as the doors opened. I looked out at the large ballroom as my suspicions were proven true; there were at least 200 people in here. Mitchell; the lying imbecile, was stood in the corner smirking away to himself as I felt the colour drain from my face.
"It's okay Vange." James muttered in encouragement. Surprisingly his words helped a little so I lifted my head a little higher, straightened my back and confidently kept pace with James.
"You soooooo have some explaining to do." I whispered under my breath so that he would hear me. He just nodded with a slight smile on his face. I looked around and saw people of all different complexions, eye colours, hair colours and body types nodding at us but the one thing they all had in common is that they were all beautiful. I could feel a few peoples gaze on me and turned to see a group of females glaring at me; or more like mine and James' hands which were clasped together. When they saw that I had noticed them they sneered at me as I walked past, discreetly flipping them the bird. I left them with angry expressions.
"I saw that." I felt James' breath on my ear.
"Bitches should mind their own business." I chuckled quietly, achieving a laugh from him too. We continued walking forward until we came to the foot of red carpeted stairs. James and I ascended them and took a seat on one of the large throne-like chairs at the top alongside Calvin and a blonde who had definitely used way too much fake tan. I laughed quietly to myself; half-expecting tiaras and crowns to be produced. Honestly, you'd think that James' family were royalty not just the leaders of a pack of werewolves. I received a strange looks from James and Calvin but I just ignored them and carried on with what I was doing.
"So Calvin this is your latest whore - I mean girlfriend?" James asked, quickly changing his reference to her when Calvin shot him a warning glance.
"Yes, I am Jessica." She gushed, grabbing hold of James' hand and shaking it whilst batting her lashes at him. James nodded and took his hand from hers then wiped it secretly on his trouser leg.
"Um, I'm James and this is my MATE Evangeline." He told Jessica, securely wrapping an arm around my shoulders and emphasising the word MATE. Her face fell a little before she nodded curtly at me, not even bothering to greet me; bitch. I cocked an eyebrow at Calvin but he just shrugged his shoulders with a sheepish smile on his face and mouthed a "sorry" in my direction. I just shook my head with a small smile; she'd be gone in a few days, I just had to remember that.
Suddenly everything went quiet and I noticed everybody parting to either side of the room, leaving a clear isle down the centre. Calvin, James and even whore-face turned to face the front and straightened theirs back so I copied their actions, waiting expectantly.
