After Chezdon's morning run, he needed a shower and change of clothes for lunch with Jayden. He texted Jayden the restaurant's address and suggested they meet at noon. Jayden responded that that schedule worked for him. The shower felt great. Choosing dark skinny jeans and a maroon shirt, Chezdon got dressed and went on his way to meet Jayden for lunch.
The lunch crowd was settling in at the restaurant. It took a few minutes to find a quiet table for two. Chezdon hadn't been sitting there long before Jayden appeared.
"Hey, mate!" Jayden said.
"Hey, Jayden," Chezdon responded.
He sat down at the table and looked at Chezdon with a smile—a different person, it seemed, from the one Chezdon had seen barely 15 hours before.
The boys put in their orders quickly. Both had things to do that afternoon, and they had a lot of difficult terrain to traverse before then.
"Jayden—" Chezdon started.
"Chez, I think there's something you should know. My mom caught me and Brody some time ago, and now for the second time, my dad's trying to decide if he will continue paying for my attending dear old Melbourne Grammar. I may not be in the same school with you Chez for much longer."
It hit Chezdon like a ton of bricks. Jayden had always been full of surprises, the most recent regarding his legal troubles topping anything before. But this announcement rivaled even that. For a moment, Chezdon was at a complete loss for words.
"Chez, please, say something. I had a hard enough time getting Brody to leave me alone. Don't just look like someone took your ice cream cone away."
"Jayden, I don't know what to say. If that happens, I'm going to miss you. A lot."
"Mate, I'm still going to be living in Melbourne. I'm not moving. And much as I'd prefer not to, I'll still have the same parents. Make that the same fucking parents."
"Well, they did have you, Jayden, so one hopes so," Chezdon said with a chuckle. Jayden smiled half-heartedly. He was hurting. "Seriously, though, that means that things may change a bit—quite a bit actually, mate. We'll just have to see what happens in that case. Hopefully, though, you'll be there until graduation. But if not, well, we'll just have to see how it goes."
Chezdon could see the gears grinding inside Jayden's head, though he wasn't sure to what end they were moving. He thought about the image of Jayden the last time they were alone. The pleasure they had had. They had stroked each other off enough times—Chezdon was comfortable enough with him then. The image of Jayden nude commanded Chezdon's brain's attentions.
Jayden thought for a moment about the consequences of not going to school with Chezdon. It would surely mean that his chances of getting into Chezdon's pants would drop considerably from where they were now. Austin would certainly have the advantage then. Bloody hell, even James would have a better chance of sliding his hand underneath the waistband of Chezdon's boxer-briefs. Jayden squirmed a bit as his penis began to stir out of its slumber. And Jayden understood better than anyone, certainly better than Chezdon, how much he needed to be able to have such access regularly if he were to be freed from Brody's clutches.
Bloody Austin. Always the thorn in my side, Jayden thought. No matter how much I did for him.
Jayden thought back to last year, just after Austin's 16th birthday.
