I hold the book to my chest as I go through the Checkout. It's my birthday today, and mum actually got me a $50 book voucher. I'm surprised that she even remembered. I went along through the shelves until one caught my eye.
It's labeled Divergent. Now I'm in the line, waiting to pay for my book. "$25 please." The lady at the checkout says.
I Hand her my voucher, and she scans it. She smiles at me and I smile at her. It's polite.
That's what Charlotte said before - well, you know.
She hands the book back to me, and I practically skip home, with the book in my hand.

I open to the first page of Divergent.
I spend all night reading it until mum tells me to go to bed.
I leave my bookmark on the part where Tris goes zip lining with Uriah.
She's so . . . . . Free.
What I would do to be free like her.
Saturday morning
I wake to the chirping of birds, and the sun meeting my eyes.
The first thing I do is make myself breakfast in bed, and finish off Divergent.
After that, I call Valerie, like I promised to do for our girls night out with Britney and Lora.
"Oh hey, Rose!" She says excitedly. "Are you coming at 5:00?"
"Yes." I say quietly.
"Cool. I'll see you then. Bye!"
"Bye." I say, before almost immediately hanging up.
I don't belong with the loud, popular girls.
I belong with the quiet, sensitive types.
I don't know why I hang out with them.
It's not like I'm forced to. But I'm alone.
I always am.
There's no boy that likes me at at school.
I don't have anyone that I'd call a friend.
I don't have 2 loving parents,
And worst of all,
I don't have a sister.
I'm alone in this world.
I lay on the bed while singing "Happy birthday to me." In a quiet voice, and start to cry.
