Britney's POV
Rose awakes. Her shiny blonde hair is tied into a messy bun, and her bright green eyes now seem dull.
How is that possible?
"I'm sorry." She whispers.
"For what? You didn't do anything."I say.
She nods. Well, as much as her head will allow.
"For putting you through the stress." She says firmly.
I shake my head. "There was not stress. None."
She nods, but looks as if she doesn't believe me. Not quite.
There is silence for a minute, and Rose looks as if she's thinking.
It's one of those looks that tells me that she wants to say something, but doesn't know whether I'm trust worthy.
But she eventually gives in.
"I want to tell you something." She says softly."Promise not to tell?"
I nod.
"Three years ago, my parents cheated on each other. Charlotte was always by my side."
I remember Charlotte. She was one of my good friends before she died.
"Were you friends with Charlotte?" I blurt out. Me and my big mouth.
She shakes her head. Now I'm confused.
"She was my sister."
My mouth is half open. Charlotte was her sister?
"She ran away. I offered to come with her but she said it was dangerous." She shakes her head."She was right, But Britney! The body was never found! She could still be out there. . . . . ."
I let her words sink in. Rose is right. She could still be out there. Highly unlikely, but there is still a chance. I nod.
"I want to try to find her again." She whispers.
And I understand.
