San Francisco, August 3rd, 1969

Today is your first day at your new job as a waitress in a cafe in downtown San Francisco. When you leave your apartment, the sunrays greet you by dancing on your face. What a lovely day in this Summer of Love. Your boss, Mr. Andrews, who is wearing a brightly colored vest with bell bottoms and a white frilled shirt, greats you happily when you enter his establishment, called "The Ruby Bar". "Hello, Nina, you look lovely this morning! This may seem a bit weird for a first day at a new job, but can I just say how that blue dress really makes your eyes pop?" your boss, who sports sandals, a curled moustache and long, brown hair, says. "Thanks..." you say while mixed feelings fill your head. Feelings of flatteration and confusion surround your thoughts, but you choose to ignore them and instead, you get to work. At the end of this busy day, your total earnings amount to $150,67. "Vinyl money..." you think.

Friday August 15th, 1969

"Good night, Mr. Anderson! See you tomorrow!" you say as he closes up the place. "Goodbye, Nina, see you soon!" he greets you. It's a lovely evening, this Friday night. It's around 8 P.M when you suddenly notice a stranger is following you. He's not that tall, about 5'11, which isn't much taller than you are, at 5'7, but his slender body makes him appear much taller, especially from a distance. When you stop moving, he stops moving. When you turn around, he turns around. You wonder what this guy want from you. All you can do is hope that it's not some sort of serial killer or another type of maniac. "Nina, stop it. You're just overreacting." you say to yourself, making yourself feel a little more relaxed. What you haven't noticed, however, is that the skinny, tall, brown-haired stranger is now only 10 feet away from you. When you turn around, your brown eyes meet with his blue ones. You are for a moment captured in his mysterious, deep gaze. "Nina" the strange guy with the dark curly hair says, breaking the silence between the two of you. "Your name reminds me of a poem I wrote." he states. "Can I maybe get your name first before you give me a complete recital of your poetry that "reminds you of my name"?". He looks at you, pausing before he opens his mouth to tell you his name:

  "It's Jim." he answers.
Then, he starts reciting his beautiful poem:

She dances in a ring of fire
and throws off a challenge
  with a shrug
I dance, swaying in the breeze I feel her arms around me
A pain grips my chest as I think
of her lips on mine.
We dance and I'm shaking.
I need to be freed.
The melody echoes in my head
and the thought
of countless dances
countless moments echoes through my brain.

             She breathes in me.

"That was..." you pause, still in shock over the beauty of this deep and mysterious poem Jim has just recited for you. "...stunning." you say gently. "Thank you, Nina. The way the moonlight lights up Jim's dark curls casts a spell on you, and before you know it, he is holding you in his arms. His strong arms. "Kiss me." he whispers in your ear. The normal Nina would have been long gone and perhaps even at home with all the blinds closed and all the doors closed, feeling scared about being kidnapped by strangers from the streets. But this time, you are in a trance. Under influence of a drug. A drug called love. When Jim's lips meet yours, a shiver goes through your body. The kiss lasts an eternity. A beautiful eternity.

When Jim walks you home to your apartment, he remains quiet. You wonder what is keeping his mind busy right now. Then, when you are about to let go of his hand, he holds you back. "Wait, Nina. You forgot something..." he says, looking up at you with his icy blue eyes. "What is it?" you ask. Jim walks up to you, standing still one step below the step you are standing on. Instead of responding to your question, he wraps his arms around your waist, and kisses you. The kiss comes a bit unexpected for you at first, but then you give in to Jim and you embrace the situation. The kiss turns into making out in your apartment, the making out turns into a full-blown love-making session. The two of you have been together ever
since, ever since that one August night during the Summer of Love.
