After a few hours of pure agony and boredom, a certain group of friends came into Angus's room, cards and balloons in their hands.
"Hey Angus!" Gregg's unsure voice rang out happily, tying a balloon to Angus's bed's arm rest. Angus's eyes peeped open, and glared at Gregg.
"Hi." Angus replied sharply, emphasizing the "h" in "hi". Mae motioned to Gregg, saying to pick his conversation up again. Bea just awkwardly handed Angus a "get well soon" card. He took it in his hand, gripping it too hard for comfort.
"That's for you." Bea assured Angus sweetly. Angus gazed at her tiredly.
"Thanks." He thanked sharply. Bea just faked a smile. Mae didn't have anything for Angus - physically, at least. She had something that she hoped Angus would take to his heart. She was going to cheer him up by telling him how much of a good friend he is.
"Angus," Mae started, furrowing her eyebrows. "I know, I don't have anything in my hands for you, but, I have something to say. I just wanted to say, that you are an amazing person, with or without your father. Angus, you DO realize your father was abusive, right?" Mae asked, squinting her eyes.
"He was?!" Angus whisper-yelled, raising his eyebrows. Mae glared at Angus questioningly.
"Yeah... You're the one who told us that fact, dude." Mae replied, furrowing her eyebrows confusingly. Angus looked completely dazed.
"I... Don't remember." Angus rumbled quietly, looking down. Mae continued.
"Anyway, man, you're the one guy who always seems to stay happy in bad situations," Mae told Angus. "You're like, the blue in an ocean of grey." Mae finished her pleasingly lovely present, smiling. Angus just looked up at her, straight through her eyes. That's when Gregg remembered something disturbing. 'His anti-depression medication... He hasn't used them in a while, and last time I saw the actual moment of him using them, it was literally a day after he got them, and he had ONE LEFT!' Gregg thought. 'He overdosed!'
