(Sylars POV)

“Skylar!” I heard from downstairs of my two story house.

“What?” I yelled back annoyed.

“Bring your last boxes down, the truck his mostly packed.” I sighed saying my last goodbyes to my room while unplugging my phone from the charger and carrying my box down the stairs. Nearly tripping over the last step, I handed my box to my dad packing it away inside the truck. I picked up a water from the case next to me while walking over to take a the passenger seat in the truck.

“Excited?” my dad asked enthusiastically.

“Ehh…You could say that.” I smiled taking a swig of my water.  Once on the road I realized I wasn’t going to miss this shitty town at all. All it ever brought to me was bad memories and bad people. I had no problem saying goodbye to my so called “friends”. I didn’t have many considering it was a small town and I wasn’t big on socializing. My mother on the other hand is the reason we are leaving. All we ever did was fight, bicker, argue, etc… It wasn’t fun at all. I never really liked to talk about the things that happen between us or even about my mother in general. I like to keep things bottled up until I blow up, which is rare. My dad claims it’s “not healthy” but I couldn’t give a shit on what he has to say. He always suggests I should see someone but I’m always quick to deny claiming I’m fine. Getting on the highway towards my new home in California couldn’t be more exciting except for the awful singing coming from my father sitting next to me.  I groaned leaning my head on the cool window slowly drifting to sleep.

“Wakey, Wakey baby girl.” I opened my eyes to come face to face with no other than my father.

“Leave me alone” I whined turning over in my seat to face the opposite direction.

“C’mon we’re home.” He said soothingly. The way he said home made me wanting to run for the hills already. I sighed unbuckling my seatbelt heading towards the door of the house. Knocking slightly I let myself in; I walked into a room full of wonderful people. My stepmother, Delilah stood up enveloping me in a hug.

“Hi Sweetheart how was your drive?” she smiled.

“Wonderful slept like a baby.” I said slightly smiling. My father walked through the door grinning at the sight of his bride-to-be.  I made my rounds saying hi to my stepsisters Bryanna and Rayleigh. Raleigh was a little bit older in college while Bryanna and I were the same age.

“What happened to you? You look tired” Bryanna said bluntly.

“Yea considering I just drove all the way down here.” I replied rolling my eyes.

“Can you show me to my room please?” I asked my dad

“Sure it’s-“

“Upstairs second door on the left” Delilah spat clearly irritated I’ve disrupted whatever the fuck they were talking about.

“Thanks.” I headed upstairs to find my room. It wasn’t as big as my old room but it’ll do. I crawled into my “new” bed closing my eyes. Just as I was drifting off I heard a faint knock at my door. I groaned rolling over to face the door.

“Come in” I croaked.

The door opened to reveal Bryanna standing there. “Hey.” She stated.

“Yes?” I asked. Why the fuck does she decide to bother me now. The bitch knows I’m trying to sleep.

“Ummm….your coming to a party with m tomorrow ok goodnight.” She said quickly.

“Wha- no I’m not. Parties aren’t my thing. “I argued back before she left my room.

“My mom won’t let me go unless you do.” She whined.

“Tough luck” I replied rolling over hoping she would leave so I could go back into my peaceful slumber.

“Fine.” She turned around slamming my door shut.

The next morning I woke up tangled in these god awful ugly sheets. Who the fuck picked this color out? I stumbled out of bed heading towards the kitchen to make some coffee. Delilah walked into the kitchen sitting at the kitchen table.

“So, nice to hear you’re going to the party with Bryanna tonight.” She said smirking at me.

“No I’m not going.” I stated.

“Why wouldn’t you want to go?” she asked tauntingly

“Umm…parties aren’t my thing and I’m still kind of tired.”

“You are going to that fucking party I don’t give a fuck about your feelings. If Bryanna wants to go then you’ll go to. Clear? I’m already sick of your little attitude and you’ve just got here. I didn’t sign up for this.” She spat out lowing her voice slightly so the rest of the house wouldn’t hear.

“Ye-Yes. Clear” I swallowed.  Why did my dad always find interest in crazy women?

“Good! Glad you could make it.” She said returning that fake smile she always has towards me. She began to exit the kitchen before running into my dad.

“Morning sleepy head!” my dad said smiling at me. He must have seen my expression before looking to Delilah and asking “What happened?”

“Uhh…” she stumbled trying to find an excuse. “I was just telling her how nice it is she’s going to that party with Bryanna. She’s excited to meet some new friends from her school.”  She said smiling nervously.

“Ohh yea?” my dad questioned looking at me.

I smiled slightly nodding my head not trusting my voice at this moment.

“When were you planning on asking me this young lady?”

“uhhh….” I trailed off hoping he would say no.

“Well, you can go. It’ll be good for you to get out there.”

I mentally cursed and went up to give him a hug. “Thanks.” He exited the kitchen again leaving Delilah and I alone again. She walked up to me taking her hand and moving my hair out of my face. I winced closing my eyes before opening them back up again to see her scowling at me. “Be ready by eight.” She winked laughing down the hallway.

Well fuck. I guess I’m going to a party.
