I walked down the street of the city. I hate going back into the madness of it. I can never tune out the voices on my head. Of course, as I got older I realized that the voices weren't mine but the thoughts of everyone who got close enough to me.

Now, before you think that's amazing think about the creepy things people think! I've pasted at least 4 people planning a murder, over 30 people thinking about sex, and this one guy who was thinking about butterflies dipped in peanut butter. I know, I know I'm invading their privacy and I should probably turn those planning murders in but it's not that simple.

You see I can't turn it off, at least, I don't know how. Believe me, I would if there was a way, do you think I want to listen to creepy men thinking about what they'd do to me? And for those people who want me to turn in the ones planning the murder, how do you know they'd actually do it? Plus where is my evidance? I can't just waltz in and say I read this lady's mind she's planning on killing her husband. That's insane. They'd think I'm insane. And if they do believe me, well that's even worse. Scientist are nosy, they want to know everything. No matter what the cost. I don't like scientists.

I for the most part stayed out of the city but I have to come back every now and then for a few things. I walked into a coffee shop. If I have to deal with all these crazy people I need coffee.

I ordered my coffee and sat down at the last empty table. I sipped my coffee in peace until a man, a couple years older than me, in his late 20's at least, appeared in front of me. "Do you mind if I sit here?" He asked, holding the chair across from me. I shook my head, "go ahead." I said and he smiled and plopped down.

He was really muscular, and I mean really muscular. Yet, he looked kind as well. He's got short brown hair and a slight beard. Then I rubbed my forehead, I couldn't read his thoughts. I'm not sure if I like the fact I have no idea what he is thinking. For all I know he might be planning to murder me. I shook it off. For once my head is a peaceful place. No buzzing, no terrifying voices, no voices except my own, which I rarely even heard.

We sat and I enjoyed the peace, then he shook his head and looked up at me from his coffee. "There's something about you..." he said slowly, as if confused. "Hmm?" I asked, being in the middle of sipping my coffee. "Your strange, unique, amazing... but why?" He asked. He seemed to be mostly asking himself but that didn't stop me from choking on my coffee.

He tilted his head to the right, I thought he was simply thinking but what he said next proved me wrong. "You got a gun in your pocket." He said and I pushed it deeper down. "The cities a dangerous place." I muttered. "You got one... under your jacket." I said and watched him feel it. He quirked an eyebrow at me. "How'd you know that?" He asked, honestly, I didn't know myself. He's just easy to read. Almost as if I know everything about him... except for what he's thinking. "I saw it." I lied. "No you didn't." He protested.

"I'm Garrett." He said sticking a hand out. "Alec." I told him and shook his hand briefly. "I have a friend who's like to meet you." He said. "Oh really." I responded sipping my coffee. "Heard of the Elite?" He asked, "course I have. They're everywhere...." I broke off. "You're on that team." I said, "you're Aurum." I said and he smirked, pulling up his sleeves and exposing the pale skin with a layer of gold on some parts. "Now you gotta tell me how you know that. What's your trick?" He asked. "I don't know." I told him, "I just know." I shrugged. "Well, will you come with me back to my headquarters? Like I said, a friend of mine will want to meet you." He said with a wink. He is talking about their leader, Wolf. Why is he called wolf? Good question, I don't know.

"Alright." I agreed, shrugging. We got up and I followed him out. The voices hit me suddenly causing me to try and plug my ears to get rid of it but it wouldn't go away. "What's the matter?" He asked. "Nothing. I'm fine." I said with a smile and took my fingers out of my ears.

I knew he didn't believe me but I didn't want to tell him the truth. Again, I know that I'm the only one who can read minds. I remember when my parents called me weird.

"Alright, well the headquarters is just over there. Tell anyone and I'll kill you." He threatened, but with a smile, simply joking. Although, this is one of the five Elite's! Only the greatest crime fighting group in history. Everyone talks about them pretty much non stop. They stopped some guy trying to assassinate the president last year. And they stopped some girl trying to control everyone with some gas like a month ago.

Okay. I know I said earlier than humans are fucking creepy and cruel but I didn't mention all of the one who aren't, also don't tell me you never felt like murdering everyone at least once. You didn't. I hope you didn't.

"Alllllright." I dragged out. We walked in silence for the remainder of all the turns through alley ways and behind buildings. "Why are we doing this?" U questioned. "You never know when someone is trying to follow you." I nodded in agreement.

"Here we are. Elite headquarters." He said boldly and opened the door, into another peaceful mind.
