“I can’t believe you Louis Tomlinson!!” Liam snapped at the older lad whilst gazing upon the mess he had made.
“You’re overreacting Li!” He exclaimed back, guilt and sorrow clear on his features as he tried to clean up the mess, only making it worse.
“Overreacting?! Simon’s going to be here in half an hour and you managed to destroy the entire kitchen! How many times do I have to tell you to stay clear from the kitchen!?” Liam exclaimed, swatting Louis’ hands away from the rag he was about to grab. “Just… just go take a shower and get dressed. I’llclean this mess up..." he said bitterly, piling up the dishes. Louis ignored his request and started putting the milk and butter in the refrigerator.
"GET OUT LOUIS!!!" Liam exclaimed, frightening the older lad. Tears welled up in his eyes as he stormed out of the kitchen and to his and Harry's apartment, mumbling something under his breath.
Liam kept scrubbing the kitchen, cleaning the pots and pans that Louis used. There was flour all over the counters and the floor, there was a broken egg on the floor and the oven had what looked like burnt vomit in an oven tray. He sighed heavily, grabbing oven mitts and taking it out, turning off the oven in the process.
Harry sighed heavily as he saw his best friend come into their apartment with tears streaming down his face. Immediately he pulled the older lad into a tight hug. “What happened this time mate?”
“I was trying to surprise him with a cake because it’s his birthday but I made a mess and now he hates me!” the older lad sobbed into his best friend’s chest.
“He doesn’t hate you Lou… you just have really bad timing… you know how he gets whenever Simon comes to visit… Now pull yourself together and go get dressed. Things will be back to normal soon.” Harry smiled reassuringly and wiped his friends tears away before sending him off to the bathroom.
The meeting with Simon went swiftly and they were all their usual selves… except Louis. He really wanted, no, needed to apologize to Liam and make it up to him. Soon enough Simon had to leave because he would be late for his flight. Harry, Niall and Zayn left quickly, obviously noticing the tension between Louis and Liam, with the excuse that they had to get ready to go clubbing in celebration of Liam’s birthday.
“Li…?” Louis spoke softly, his hands occupied with a medium sized box.
Liam turned to face his boyfriend with a scowl on his face. “Will you please tell me what the hell you were doing this morning?” he asked, sighing heavily.
“I… I wanted to surprise you with a birthday cake and since I slept here last night and Harry had company, I decided to use your kitchen. I’m sorry Li… I didn’t mean to make such a mess…” his bottom lip quivered a bit.
Liam sighed again but a large smile crept up to his face. “I’m sorry for snapping at you love… I love you, you know that right??” he tilted Louis’ face up gently so they were looking into eachother’s eyes. The Doncaster lad nodded, smiling wide now as their lips pressed together in a passionate kiss.
“What’s in the box love?” Liam asked as they pulled away from their kiss.
“Your birthday present…” Louis smiled cheekily. Liam’s expression contorted in confusement only to be transformed immediately in one of utter happiness as he opened the box and a little golden retriever puppy’s head popped out of the box.
“Happy Birthday Liam…”
