This one shot is based on the song 'In Real Life' by Demi Lovato.
Hope you enjoy it!
I woke up clawing at the cold sheets… once again. As my eyes fluttered open, I couldn’t help but let out a disappointed sigh. Once again all his clothes vanished, the sheets were cold, almost as if nothing ever happened. He was long gone. It has been a routine for a couple of months now. Sighing heavily again, I pulled the covers off my body, a shiver shaking my body from the cold breeze. I slipped my boxers and a jumper on as I walked to the kitchen and put a kettle for tea on the stove. I guess today’s just another day of being cooped up in here, feeling sorry for myself. I grabbed my mobile phone and opened up a new message. Selecting his contact, I let my confusion and anger get the best of me.
‘So are you ever gonna stay until the morning Liam? –Z x’
I bit my bottom lip while preparing my cup of tea, nervously awaiting his response. When my mobile buzzed, I felt my heart rate pick up to an ungodly speed. Setting down my mug, I reached over, with trembling hands, and pressed the read button.
‘Babe you know I will someday. I just can’t risk Niall figuring out just yet. –Li xx’
I scoffed loudly, tossing my mobile on the bench angrily. It’s always Niall this, Niall that! The worst part it they’re just friends! Or… that’s the story that reached my ears. I don’t even understand why Liam doesn’t want us to come out to the lads. They have a right to know! Is he ashamed of me? That’s the only solution I can find. It’s obvious he’s ashamed of me. What other reason is there for him to keep our relationship hidden? Then again… he never really asked me to be his boyfriend…
Liam used to hang out with me all the time. He used to hold me and tell me he loved me. That stopped as soon as Niall, who was living with Liam currently, asked him if he had some kind of lover seeing as Liam was always sneaking out. After that, things just went downhill. Liam only talks to me when he has to or when he just wants sex. But I’m too much of a coward to stand up to him.And I love him way too much to lose him.
“Wake up love… we’re going on a date.” Liam smiled brightly, pulling on his clothes after having a very wild night. My brown eyes twinkled in the dull light of the bedroom as I opened them. A small smile appearing on my lips as I saw my gorgeous boyfriend standing before me.
“Why are we awake at…” my gaze shifted to the clock on my bedside table, my eyes widening instantly. “four in the morning?!” My voice faltered with sleep as I looked at Liam again.
“We’re going to watch the sunrise… in the London Eye. They’re opening it just for us babe.” He smiled wide. I can’t believe he remembered about that. I felt my heart flutter as I got out of the comfortable bed to pull on clean clothes.
My eyes opened slowly, the hope had lessened over these last coupld of months. Five months it had been since Liam was using me this way, always leaving as soon as I fell asleep. I had become accustomed to being ditched, forgotten. Getting up, I put my clothes on… as usual. And I went to the kitchen and made a cup of tea… as usual. I was becoming sick and tired of these routines! I grabbed my mobile phone off the bench, furiously typing his number in. A total of six times I called him with no answer at all, obviously. Groaning in frustration, I did the only thing I could think of. Dialling a different number this time, I waited patiently for the person to answer it. On the second ring, a voice sounded through my speaker.
“Zayn! How are you mate?! I missed you!” his squeaky voice exclaimed, causing me to smile. My body instantly relaxed, all my nerves and anger instantly scattering away from me.
“Hey Lou… I’m fine. How are you?” I coldn’t keep the smile off my face. Just hearing his voice filled my tummy with butterflies.
“You don’t sound fine… Are you sure you’re okay?” he asked, concern seeping through his voice.
“Actually… I was wondering if… by any chance… you wanted to um… hang out today? Just the two of us?” I spoke softly, insecurity and nerves taking over my every emotion. Why was I feeling like this? It’s Louis… Louis William Tomlinson. My best mate.
“Yea!Yea of corse Z! I’ll be there in ten minutes.” He exclaimed excitedly, hanging up on my after a loud bang was heard. I couldn’t help but smile widely as I plopped down on my couch with my tea in hand. With hardly any time to finish my tea, the doorbell rang, signalling Louis was finally here. I practically sprinted to the door, pulling it open and instantly engulfing him in a tight hug. He felt warm and comfortable. I closed my eyes and breathed in deeply. I heard him chuckle as he wrapped his arms around me tightly.
“I Missed you so much…” he whispered in my ear, sending a shiver down my spine and my cheeks to flush. Biting my bottom lip, I pulled away from the embrace to look at him.
“I missed you too.” I replied, pulling him onto the couch where we spent the whole day watching different movies and eating junk food. His arm was around my waist, holding me tenderly while my head was gently perched upon his shoulder. His face turned to mine and we gazed into eachothers eyes. Soft blue meeting hazel eyes. I could feel his sugary breath on my lips. My eyes fluttered shut and before I knew what I was doing, I was leaning closer and closer to him. His lips finally united with mine, instantly fitting together and moving in perfect sync.
I felt so cozy and warm, covered with my blankets in my comfortable bed. I smiled in my sleep when I smelled food. Curiosity got the best of me as I fluttered my eyes open to find Louis standing before me with a tray in his hands and a bright smile on his face. My expression contorted into confusion.
“That… that wasn’t a dream?” I asked, my morning voice made my accent heavier. His smile faltered a bit while he slowly shook his head. My smile brightened as I sat up in my bed.
“Thank goodness it wasn’t a dream Lou…” I pat the spot next to me on the bed. As he sat down I kissed his cheek softly. “And you really look great without your shirt on.” I winked at him before admiring his bare torso. His cheeks flushed red as he grabbed some scrambled eggs on a fork.
“Enough of flirting Mr. Malik. You must eat in order for us to go on our date later today.” He smiled, inching the fork closer to my mouth. I gently took the food off the fork with my mouth, chewed and moaned a bit in delight.
“These are amazing Lou.” I smiled wide after swallowing. “And date?”
“Only the best for my man…” he smiled wide, gently caressing my cheek.
I sighed blissfully.
Real Life is better than any dream.
