IF THERE WAS anything Rory knew to do, it was to flirt.
Whether she realised it, or not, she had the capability to charm the pants out of anyone who was walking on two legs. She charmed the pants out of the ponytail chick from American. She charmed the pants out of her cute next-door neighbour in Uni. Whether she believed it, or not — she charmed the pants out of Eggsy Unwin. It was almost as if she was a natural.
But, just to be clear, she wasn't. Rory liked to think of it as something like a compulsive liar. She was a pathological flirt. It came out of her habit of making people feel comfortable: because once someone was comfortable, they tend to let their guard down — and once their guard is down, it's easy to get almost anything out of them. Secrets, lies, favours. Everything an agent (and a soon-to-be Kingsman Agent) needed to have in their arsenal.
So, naturally, she thought: this assignment was going to be a piece of cake.
The club was hot and humid when they got there. And the atmosphere stayed the same, as they got deeper into the night. Rory was in the midst of searching their beloved target — and perhaps finishing off her second drink from the bar (thank God she wasn't lightweight) — when she finally spotted her.
She was alone, which was a good thing, because Rory could think of a handful of conversation starters to catch the lady's attention. But, just like everything else tonight, she wanted to keep it cool and casual. Simple. So, she decided to go with—
"Well, that's unfortunate... " Rory had announced loud enough, under the pulsating beat of the club's music, to catch the blonde's attention. She furrowed her brows, and leant against the sofa with one hand, as she drank the rest of her drink in the other.
The girl frowned. "What is?"
Rory shrugged. "Whoever came here with you must be the biggest idiot, because it is an absolute crime to leave you, looking like that."
