"Guys, you need rest today. No watching movies and no games tonight." Joonmyun said.
Baekhyun whined and stretched his words, "why's that---?"
"We'll be going to war with Essem tomorrow. The guardians will only come when danger is sensed. Please be prepared." Yixing said.
"How do you guys know about this?" Zitao asked letting his voice thin out.
Yixing and Joonmyun looked towards me and pointed.
"Well Jongin, you seem to know a lot of things before hand..." Chanyeol started, "is there anything else?" Everyone seemed to be agitated at me ever since we left Korea.
I shook my head and brought Kyungsoo upstairs to our room. I'll try to be there but you may be shocked where I am. I have given East a job and a promise a few centuries back and we were closer than any two people could be. Well, not people since we're not mortal. We did the impossible, the two of us alone.
"Why did you know there was going to be a war?" Kyungsoo said as soon as the door shut behind us.
"You have to trust me." I said walking to my luggage.
Kyungsoo followed me and squatted by my side. "I want to believe in you but I doubt myself. You've been acting strange lately." He said holding my wrist, preventing me from digging through my things.
I looked into his round sparkling eyes. These were the pair of eyes that captured me and pulled me out of my long years of suffering. My heart sank in memory of all of the past souls. All of them had died from me being careless and unable to find their stones. This time if I don't save Kyungsoo I don't know what I'd do. My heart felt heavy just seeing Kyungsoo around others. What would become of me if I lost him completely? Immortality is the worst of all.
"Okay, just trust me until we finish the war. You can hate me or whatever, but I want to keep you safe from danger. I've already lost too many companions over the years." I tried to turn the corners of my lips to make a smile but instead my vision was blurring. I could feel warm droplets forming from my tear ducts. I wiped them away and looked at the large widened eyes.
"Jongin," Kyungsoo whispered, "it's going to be okay."
Hearing the words come out of the innocent Kyungsoo tears rolled down my face. I threw my arms around his narrow shoulders and started crying. I rested my head in the corner of his neck and shoulder and squeezed him as tightly as I could.
"Don't ever leave me okay?" I breathed into his ear.
"I won't. I'm here for you." Kyungsoo said. I could feel his arms slowly rising. He folded his arms around my back and grabbed the shirt.
"We need to sleep. Tomorrow's a big day." Kyungsoo said, patting my back. I slowly released my grip and slid my hand down his back and let them hang by my sides.
"You can go first." I said, "I need to find something."
Kyungsoo nodded and headed for the closet. When he got into the bathroom and shut the door I continued to fiddle through my luggage. I dug my hand under layers and layers of clothing until I hit something hard: the stones.
I pulled the back out from under the clothes. The bag was velvet with a soft blue color. Around the top was a silver string closing the bag. I walked over to the bed and pulled the string, causing a burst of blue light to appear around the room.
"Jongin." I heard Kyungsoo's voice. He was standing in front of the door with his eyes larger than usual. "What is that?"
I managed a smile, "it's the 12 souls." I paused and put the bag down on the bed. "We are the hosts of these stones."
"You don't have mine." He said walking over to his bag. He took out the angular stone. He took my wrist and put the stone in my hand. "Keep it safe."
I nodded and put it in the bag. A rupture of neon blue light spread across the room. Symbols floated around the room, spinning in different directions. "According the old story book, when all stones are in the same bag then the Exo symbol will appear and the 12 souls' symbols will surround it and spin in a clockwise direction."
"We haven't found yours yet." Kyungsoo said.
"It's fine, we'll find it in time." I said closing the bag. "I'll go shower, you can sleep first."
Kyungsoo nodded and went to his bed and pulled the covers over his slender body. I put the bag on the desk and went to the bathroom and took a warm refreshing bath. When I opened the door Kyungsoo was standing there wrapped in his blankets.
"Can we sleep together?" he murmured under his breath and looked down.
"Well. That's a first!" I said, grabbed him, and swung him on the bed. I rolled over him and slipped under the blankets. I looked over and Kyungsoo snuggled under my arm and glued himself to my torso. "Come one, not that close." I said nervously.
There was no reply. Soft breaths started to emerge. Kyungsoo had fallen asleep. He must have been worried and unable to fall asleep. I patted his head and put my arms under the blankets. I looked up at the ceiling and slowly my eyelids got heavier and I fell into a deep slumber.
"KIM JONG IN! Why is your ass still in the damn bed?!" Kyungsoo's voice echoed in the room. I rubbed my eyes and looked around. Kyungsoo had already woken up. He was wearing only his boxers and a tank, which was strange since he was always done changing before waking me up.
"What are you wearing?" I laughed.
"There was a notice at the door telling us to wear these." Kyungsoo said holding up a folded stack of clothing. I looked for a split second and knew. This was going to be a serious battle.
"It's traditional clothing and I don't know how to wear it, so ..." he paused, "can you help?" I smiled and shot out of bed.
"Of course!" I said putting the clothes on the bed. After a while we both finished changing, I picked up the bag and we left the room to find the others in the lobby. Amazingly all of the other souls figured out how to wear the Hanbok properly.
A few moments later East showed up, in his ghost form, and guided us out into the car. He must have put a mist cloud over us because no one was wondering why people dressed in traditional clothing were walking around.
"Haha--" I heard Tao laugh in his soft tender voice, "there's a show going on, no wonder people don't question us." Tao said.
Well, I guess East would never miss a detail. He was always in the shadows and nooks. He knew everything.
We got on the limo and departed. I felt drowsy and fell asleep on Kyungsoo's shoulders. When I woke up we were already at our destination. Tao and Yixing had also fallen asleep on the ride.
"Welcome, my souls. There's something interesting you have with you..." Essem's voice rang in my ears., "it that correct? It's in a bag! How efficient--"
"sorry, but this isn't for you." Is said, slipping the bag in the pocket of the Hanbok.
"HAHAHAHA" Essem laughed a deep laugh, "well, It's no surprise. I guess we'll fight for it." Essem waved his hands, "Dong. Come here."
East appeared. The real East. He wore all black with a sword tucked in its sheath. His hair was tied back in a ponytail that extended past his waist.
"Yes, master?" East spoke. His voice vibrated deep. It has been centuries since I've heard the real him.
