"......we must live someone
If we are to justify
Our presence on this earth
We must keep loving all our days
Someone, anyone, anywhere."
He shut the book and looked at the little girl in her pyjamas and a cotton top with a label that read 'Miss Smarty Pants'.
She stared back.
"That was a short poem," she complained.
"It's not my fault sweetheart, maybe Ruskin Bond was being lazy that day," he told her as he pecked her forehead.
Or maybe he was just being miserable....... like me....I miss her.
"Why hasn't DeeDee called yet?" she asked.
He was worried but he did not show it.
"She must be busy," he said.
"Well....I'm not sleeping until I have talked to her," the little girl folded her arms over her chest stubbornly.
"Mel..."he glared at her.
She frowned back.
"You're as stubborn as your mom," he shook his head.
"Can I stay up then?"
"No."
"But I miss her!"
He sighed.
"Tell you what...I'll let you stay up for half an hour...but then, you won't make a fuss and go to sleep, deal?" he patted Melissa's head.
"Deal," she smiled.
Melissa looked too much like her mom when she smiled.
