After school, Himiko walked home, unlocking her apartment door and stepping in. "I'm home." She called out.
There was no response.
Himiko took off her shoes and shut the door behind her, locking it.
"How was your day, mom, dad?" She asked, no response again. She turned, looking at the two pictures of the two surrounded with flowers. "I glad to hear it was good." She muttered sadly.
She took a deep breath and placed her book bag on the ground and walked over to a cupboard and took out a small glass vase, filling it with water and placing the rose in it. She knew it wouldn't survive that long, but it was still pretty.
After she did that, she sat down, opening the laptop she got a year ago. "Meaning of a black rose." She muttered as she typed it in the search bar, watching as the page slowly loaded up, she clicked on a random link, reading it.
"In the 19th century, the language of flowers became popular. In this code, black roses to most people signify death, or hatred. They can also mean farewell, rejuvenation or rebirth, or the start of a drastic change. It can also mean overcoming a long harng for a war or on a journey from which he did not expect to return. An alternate meaning is 'pure devotion' since a true black rose is impossible to produce.
Romance
A red rose can often be a romantic gift, representing romance and love. Black roses are symbolic of a tragic romance. They are related to sadness that may occur in the relationship."Himiko stopped reading, "A tragic romance, eh?" She chucked. "Not like I could ever get a romance, maybe that's why it's tragic." She smiled a bit at that comment. But the meaning made her think, Death and hatred? So not like her. She was the opposite of death. And a drastic change? No way. She chucked. "Man, why does she think that a rose can symbolize our lives?" She asked. "It's stupid." She leaned back and sighed, glancing at the rose on the table in front of her, then she got an idea.
"What rose colors did the others get?" She wondered to herself. "Miya got Lavender, Tamai got a pale peach, and Shirai got yellow, with red tips." She stood up and looked at her wallet, and smiled, she should have enough. "Homework can wait! It's now time for friends!" She exclaimed, walking into her room and changing into a white t-shirt and some jean shorts, she grabbed her purse and placed her wallet inside. "Time to go!" She walked to the door and opened it, stepping out and locking it shut behind her, placing her key into her bag.
After about an hour of walking, she ended up at the mall, walking in with a smile, she looked around, her eyes shining. "Ah! It's so spacious!" She exclaimed happily, getting looks from people walking around her. She placed her hands on her cheeks, a smile on her face. "I have to check out the pet store!" She squealed. Then she slapped her cheeks. "No Himi, remember why you're here!"
She determinedly walked into a jewelry store, and walked over to the cheap necklace section. Looking at them, she saw a whole section of rose necklaces. "So I need a lavender," she said, grabbing a lavender rose, "A pale peach" she grabbed a pale peach rose, "And finally, a yellow one with red tips." She looked the whole thing over twice, the only thing she could see was yellow. So she sighed and grabbed that one. She turned towards and walked towards the cashier, placing the three necklaces on the counter. She watched as the young girl scanned all of them.
"That will be 3926.70 yen* please!" The girl said.
Himiko gulped, that was more than she thought, she searched through her wallet and found that she had just enough. "Okay! Got it!" She exclaimed happily, placing the bills and coins on the counter. She watched as the cashier took the bills and counted them. She placed them into drawer and looked at Himiko, smiling. "Thank you for coming!" She exclaimed. Placing the necklaces in a bag and handing them to Himiko.
