"Mama, what happened to grandpa?" A child with innocent blue eyes said, looking up at her mother. "He's in a better place now Sandra, up in the clouds." A mother and her daughter were standing by the casket of an old man, flowers and a picture of the man next to the casket. A middle aged business man walks up to the two and looks down at the corpse, as if the lifeless body wasn't once his father. "Did you look at the will Sarah?" The man says. "It isn't much. Daddy was worthless anyway." The woman said, turning away coldly from the casket, her daughter trailing behind her, oblivious to what was going on. "It's pointless staying here if we aren't going to get anything of value." The child stops abruptly in her tracks, realizing that her mother was leaving the funeral. "Mama, what about grandpa? We need to keep him company. Right Uncle Will?" The man looks down at his watch and glances up at the child. "We don't have time. I have to be at a meeting by 2:00. I can't be late. Sarah, bring Sandra home. We can't let any influence of dad remain on her." The man rushes out of the building, leaving the scene. "I'm staying with grandpa." The child says stubbornly and crosses her arms. "No, we're heading home. You need to practice your arithmetic skills." The mother says sternly and impatiently. "Grandpa says 'All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy'." The child says, challenging her mother. "Well, your grandpa isn't here anymore." The child's eyes fill with acknowledgement, and soon tears. She runs out of the building, sobbing. "Sandra! Come back!" The mother runs after her child, unknowing of the hurt she had inflicted in her own daughter.
