"Jonas!" I whisper, barely able to breathe. After all that has happened today, and now this!! I can feel the world spinning. I can't take this, I can't take this!!! I almost started having a heart attack right then and there.

"Lily? Are you all right?" Jonas asked, looking genuinely concerned.

"Yeah, I... am...OK." I stuttered, but my knees were about to give way. "What's up?"

"Well, I was just wondering..." Jonas was now concentrating hard on his shoelaces.

"If we could work on our social studies project together? Yea, do you want to work on that now?" I smash in before he could say anything.

"No, well, actually..."

Then he looked up and saw my face. He glanced at how nervous and horrified my face was. Then Jonas seemed to change his mind.

"Yeah. Totally. In fact, do you want to work in it at my house? I've got all the supplies."

Oh my gosh! What was I going to do!! Was this a sign? I knew that wasn't what he was going to ask.

Then I stopped. I just stopped. No matter what, I am NOT going to get in the drama. I am not going to freak out every time something happens.

"Let me check with my parents really quick." I quacked, now confident.

Jonas relaxed and seemed to regain composure, turning back to his suave, swag self. "OK, I will just stay here."

I jogged over to my parents, who were talking guiltily about me.

"Can I go over to a friends house to work on a school project?"

As distracted as they were, my parents were suspicious. "Wait, don't you usually work on school projects with boys?" My dad asked.

"DAD, it's just a school project, and i'm not busy practicing baseball because I can't pla--ay," I chant in an angry voice. I pull out play, and I can see the guilt on my parents faces.

"OK, when will you be back?" Mom wearily asked.

"About 8, OK? Bye."

I grabbed my phone and my textbook, then walked back to the door.

"I'm ready!"

I went with Jonas out the door. Since his house was only the next street over, we walked over there.
