Phil's POV:
I jolt awake, breathing harder and vision blurry. I shift in the uncomfortable bed and scramble to get my glasses. They said we should stay here tonight and they separated our rooms.
I hop off the bunk bed and stumble through the metal corridor to Dan's room. He wakes when I walk in. A wave of relief washes over me when I see him though, every time I blink I see him falling to his death. He rubs his eyes and looks over at me, standing in the doorway shaking.
"What's wrong babe?" he mutters. I shuffle in, shutting the door behind me. He scoots over and I climb in his bed, wrapping my arms around his waist and burying my face in his chest. He's safe, he's alive. I'm not going to lose him. He's right here. I chant in my head trying to calm myself.
"Hey, it's okay," he says, rubbing my back and running his fingers through my hair. I stay silent and clutch him closer. "I though I lost you, I saw you jump," I mumble into his shirt. "I'm right here. I'm not going anywhere," he says comfortingly. I sigh, relaxing a bit but not loosening my grip on his waist. I look up and meet his hazel eyes that looked at me on that bridge. "Promise you'll never leave me," I say quietly. "Promise," he says, leaning forward and pressing a comforting kiss on my lips. I don't know what I'd do if he left, I'd probably lose my mind. We lay there kissing for no reason other than to assure each other that we're there. I pull away slightly.
"I love you," I say before I lose the chance to. He's quiet for a few seconds and I worry I've screwed everything up and he doesn't feel the same. Then he kisses me so hard I'm surprised he doesn't leave a bruise on my lips. He pulls away breathing hard, "I love you too, more than you could ever imagine." "I think I know the feeling," I say smiling at him and he smiles back, white teeth shining in the darkness. "I love you," I say again just because I can. He laughs quietly. "Love you too," He says. And we fall asleep like that, in each other arms, content.
I can honestly say that if we were to die together in that moment I wouldn't of minded and that thought is as equally terrifying as it is freeing.

Dan's POV:
I knew the look in his eyes the moment he walked threw my door. His eyes, so blue I could swear they were made of ice, filled with terror and it physically pained me to see him like that. I knew it was my fault too when his shoulder slumped in relief when he saw me still here.
The littlest things give away the biggest secrets.
I lay in his arms now, and although he holds me more tightly than normal, his expression is at peace. I don't sleep that night and I'm awake when my mum walks in, in what I can only assume is morning since windows are seldom in this place. She gives Phil an annoyed glance but when she looks at me I glare at her so hard she stops. "I've come to bring you to breakfast, I guess you can drag him along as well," she says, in a more posh voice than I thought was capable of coming from her mouth. She leaves just as soon as she came, almost slamming the door behind her.
Phil moves, opening his icy eyes a few seconds later. "Who was that?" He mumbles. "My mother," I say in a harsh tone, she might have saved my life but she has a lot of fucking explaining to do. "Breakfast is ready," I say more softly. We both get up, Phil leaving to change into the clothes they left for him in his other room.
The rooms are painfully bland, everything grey and angles. A tiny mirror hanging on the far wall. There are purple bags under my eyes, my fringe is so greasy it's sticking to my forehead, and my skin is so pale it's almost solid white. I look dead. Then again I did almost die.
There's a tiny room adjoined to the main one that has an even smaller shower. I quickly wash off but that turns out to be a more difficult task that previously predicted because my head almost hits the ceiling and I can barely move my arms without whacking into a wall. I dry off and change into the clothes they gave me which are almost as boring as the rooms.
Phil's sitting on the bed waiting when I walk out. "Is everyone who stays here a midget?" I ask, scowling back at the closet for a room. Phil laughs, "I had the same problem, I think we're just unusually tall." "Not everyone's under 5'9," I say, rolling my eyes.
He laughs again, standing and walking to the door. "Come on, let's go eat some food from complete strangers in an unfamiliar place," he says. "Nothing could possibly go wrong," I say, rolling my eyes and following him out the door. "Well, crap. Now we're definitely going to die," Phil says, smirking. I laugh, playfully pushing him.
We walk down the metal corridors, not knowing where we're going, following the loud chatter that can only be coming from a cafeteria.
We step into a large room, which is a welcomed change compared to the rest of the claustrophobic building. People sit at rows of tables talking with people they know, all wearing the same type of clothes as we are except a few that wear a slightly darker grey.
There's a line for food and we're walking over to it when I spot my mum walking over to us. "Hey look, it's Satan," I say cheerfully. "Haha, very funny," she deadpans as she gets near. "I thought so," Phil says. We both share a know glance. "Are you two attached at the hip or something? I don't remember having a second son," she says, glaring at Phil. "Well that would make things awkward," Phils says. I snort in an attempt to hold back a laugh.
"I already paid for your food, just show them your bracelet and they'll scan it," she says, giving us both an unamused expression. I look down and see that I'm indeed wearing a metal bracelet with a small glowing black circle in the middle. How did I not notice this before? I'm blind. I look over to Phil and see he doesn't have one. "What about Phil?" I ask confused.
"He doesn't get one, only people with powers do," she says. I give her a confused look when I realise that almost everyone in this room has a bracelet on.
