I walk up to the front door of school after just parting with Lucy in the car park when I feel a hand on my mouth. I scream when I’m pulled into an ally way that I didn’t even know existed.  “Shhh,” I’m met by bright green orbs and I immediately shove Harry holding my chest. “What the hell was that?” I demand he shakes his head a scowl present on his face. “Who the hell do you think you are?” I gasp Harry’s jaw clenches as his arms fold. “I could ask you the same question,” he challenges I gape at him crossing my arms defensively. “I don’t know what you’re talking about…”

“Oh so it wasn’t you who rang the fucking boxing club last night?” My eyes widen as I feel my cheeks blush furiously. “I was at…Casey’s last night.”

“Cut the bull shit Jay why the hell would you do that and pretend to be Mary is there something mentally wrong with you?”

“You lied and you’ve just proved it.” I point at him waving my finger Harry breathes heavily shaking his head. “The fight was cancelled…”

“Oh who’s talking bull shit now fights are only on Thursdays and Friday’s!” He raises his eyes at me eyes narrowing “someone did their homework.”

“Now are you going to tell me the truth?” I demand tapping my foot Harry closes his eyes rubbing them. “How about stay the fuck out of my business.”

“But…”

“I mean it.” He walks out of the alley way just as the bell rings leaving me late for class.

I hurry to class making a dramatic entrance to biology when I realise I didn’t even to the fucking homework mentally groaning I slam the door after me in frustration feeling everyone’s eyes burn back into the back of my head. I hand over a later slip to the substitute teacher who doesn’t know what hit her as she takes in my appearance. Her eyes scan my perfectly done uniform that reaches my mid-thigh and my brown hair pulled into a side braid. I squirm under her eyes “miss…Carmichael? School prefect I see right…take a seat.” I roll my eyes nodding sliding into the seat next to Casey and Jack both of their stares making me scowl. “Cut that out,” I hiss to both of them I see Casey hold her hands up but Jack looks at me curiously. “Are you alright?”

“Fine,” I grumble seeing Harry watching me I send him a glare and I can see Jack looking between us. “Is he..”

“Jack I’m fine…just tired.” He nods and I feel bad for snapping “sorry…”

“No it’s fine really.” I smile lightly pushing my hair out of my eyes Jack grins I turn back to my work but stop when I feel a something heavy whack me. “Ow,” I exclaim rubbing my head while I pick up the massive eraser that has a note taped to it.

Really Jay? Did you not listen to a fucking thing I said yesterday?

-Harry

I breathe heavily scrunching the note up in my hand knowing he’s talking about Jack. I can see Harry watching me so I chuck the eraser back hitting him square in the face. I giggle putting a hand over my mouth my voice muffled by the numerous conversations happening around us. Harry scowls and I copy him chucking the paper ball in his direction. Harry bats it away scrambling for it and opening it up he furrows his brow obviously confused I didn’t write back. Harry grabs another piece of paper before scribbling on it passing the note back to me. I narrow my eyes scrunching it again without taking one look. Harry breathes in and out heavily while clicking his pen looking at Jack who  is reading the text book. I roll my eyes knowing he’s not going to leave me alone

Stay away from him I mean it.

-Harry

Grabbing the nearest pen which happened to be pink and I quickly write a note down and chucking it back his eyes widen at my writing. He raises his eye brows at me grabbing his nearest pen and scribbling back.

You write that kind of language with a pink pen?

-H

Rolling my eyes I stifle a smile before writing back.

Pink is for the innocent

-J

Harry chuckles scribbling back quickly.

But those words aren’t.

-H

Giving up I throw the paper in the bin careful to rip it up into tiny pieces before rolling them up. I can see Harry watching me and I look away quickly scrambling back to my seat.

*********

I see Louis following me after class and I roll my eyes ducking into the nearest classroom him not far behind. “Hi,” he manages awkwardly I smile trying not to let on that I know he lied. “Hi, care to tell me why you’re snooping around after me.” I ask raising my eyebrows Louis sighs crossing his arms “I wasn’t following you.”

“Uh-huh I can practically hear mission impossible theme song radiating off you.” Louis chuckles but I just roll my eyes. “I know it seems stupid to you but you need to stay away from Jack,” I gape at him enough that I pretty much feel my jaw hit the floor. “Who are you Harry’s messenger?”

“I’m doing this for you Jay.” Louis says I roll my eyes my temper rising “oh yeah? You lied to me you knew exactly where Harry was last night yet you lied.” Louis’s eyes widen “how the hell do you know that?”

“No one fights on a Wednesday, what do you take me for an idiot?”

“Wait…that was you? You called the gym last night?” I narrow my eyes stepping forward and shoving Louis chest. “I swear to god if you don’t give me answer right now Louis so help me…”

“I know Jack you don’t Jay trust me on this.”

“I know him well enough.” Louis scoffs shaking his head

“I know him better.”

“Oh yeah how?” I challenge Louis seems stuck for a moment before he huffs “we’ve had run inns.”

“What kind of run inns?” I murmur my skin gathering goose bumps Louis watches me carefully before shrugging. “Just understand we know him better than you do so stay away.” Louis says carefully I furrow my brow slightly when we’re interrupted.

“If I didn’t know any better I’d say that was threat.” We both turn to see Jack standing in the doorway; I hold my breath feeling guilty while my cheeks redden. Jack holds out my pink notebook to me “you left this.” I open my mouth to say something but nothing comes out Jack watches me for a few more moments before turning to Louis. I stay planted while they stare at each other before Jack walks out head held high. “Fuck,” Louis murmurs grabbing my arm while he gets his phone out swiping his fingers alone the keys. “I’ll see you later,” he murmurs warily. My eyes widen when he shoves my books into my arms and steers me to the music classroom leaving me wide eyed and gob smacked.
