Jay’s POV

Harry and I stand at the podium his red pen gleaming on the now scrunched piece of paper as I take breaths in. I begin my part of the speech I freeze while watching Harry continue when I see Mary her lips are pursed and her face flushed. I gulp taking my seat on the left side of the stage with Harry who looks at me quizzically but I ignore him and begin fiddling with the paper in my hand. When we get off stage Lucy envelopes me into a hug congratulating me but I barely hear her, the air suddenly feeling thick. Harry moves stray hairs from my face his brow furrowed “are you okay baby?” I nod rubbing my temples my eye lids feeling heavy “yeah just tired.” Lucy frowned and grabbed my arm “migraine?” She asked I nodded she sighed taking my arm Harry frowned “calm down lover boy she’ll be back.” Lucy called I rolled my eyes kissing Harry briefly “I promise.” I murmured he smiled kissing my forehead before I ran to catch up with Lucy.

“Here.” Lucy handed me a packet of panadol as we stood in the girls bathrooms. “Jay are you okay?” I nodded smiling while dry swallowing the tablets. “It’s just a migraine Luce I’m fine I get them all the time.”

“Yeah well that’s what I’m worried about.” She whispered grabbing concealer out of her bag and smudging it under my eyes. “Seriously I’m fine really.”

“What do you see in him? I don’t get it.” She murmurs undoing my hair and fixing it up I shrug meeting her eyes in the mirror “I don’t know he just...he just makes everything seem alright I guess.” I mumble she frowns shaking her head “not exactly a good enough reason.” I sigh rubbing my eyes “Lucy not now please.” I beg stretching my arms above my head she rolls her eyes but nods hands up. “Fine whatever.” I sigh thanking her for my hair before following her to history. Casey and Harry are already there talking lightly I smile sliding into the spot between them. “Hey babe,” Casey exclaims pulling me into a hug I turn to Harry who smiles and I lean forward brushing my lips to his. “Hey Haz.”

“Haz? Wow we need to work on your nicknames.” He chuckles I giggle pushing him lightly before taking out my text book. I freeze when I see Mary walk into the class room her dress higher than usual and her dull brown hair straightened. She smiles at Harry and slides into the desk next to his. “Hi,” she smiles battering her eyelashes Harry raises his eyebrows “hey how are you doing?”

“Fine actually are you around this Saturday? You know you promised to help me with history.” She said innocently Casey rolled her eyes. I wanted to be sick as I tried to ignore her, the conversation ringing in my ears. Jack walked into the room and I smile waving he didn’t respond just sat in the seat next to Casey. I frown Casey raising her eyebrows at me; I turn back round to Harry who is chuckling at something Mary just said. “Miss Carmichael?” The teacher repeated I zoom back to reality facing the front of the room. “Sorry I missed that what?” I asked running my hands through my hair. Harry turned back towards me but I barely look at him and just focus ahead. “What was Caesars main purpose when he invaded Austria?” She continued I opened my mouth but closed it again I turned to Harry ho was to deep in conversation with Mary to care. “He um...”

“He wanted to expand the Roman Empire further and be the best anyone has ever seen he wanted to be remembered and that he is.” Jack continued for me I smiled giving him a grateful look he just smiled nodding. Harry frowned at our little intercourse but I ignored him. “Right thank you Mr Perri and Miss Carmichael actually maybe you two can partner up, than Miss Smith and Mr Styles and I’m sure Miss Bay you can join a group of three the rest of you partner up.”

“Right, Harry want to be in a group of three?” Mary smirks pulling her chair closer to Harry, Casey smirks patting me reassuringly “here swap with me,” I nod pushing my books over and swapping spots with Casey. Jack greets me with a smile holding out his hand I raise my eyebrows but giggle once I realise he wants a hi-five. I slap his hand he fakes that he’s hurt making me laugh harder “god girl got a hi-five.”

“Why thank you.” I reply giggling even harder he leans forward “we are going to whip there asses with this assignment.” I smile nodding agreeably “we are the best team in the damn world.” I shout a little louder than I meant to everyone turns towards us Casey smirking “you’re on babe, I…” she turns back to Harry and Mary Harry frowning. “Yeah I am going to beat you two.”

“Casey I think you’re forgetting the other two in your team.” Jack cooees making me giggle harder Casey rolls her eyes “please they’re too interested in each other to care.” As soon as the words leave her mouth she clamps it shut, I sigh turning back round to Jack Harry calling my name. “Anyway what colour is our poster going to be?” Jack asks cutting up pieces of paper up I smile “pink.”

“I am not having our poster colour pink.”

“There is only one colour and that is pink.” I argue he shakes his head laughing his blue eyes lighting up. “No, I will agree on black or something classy.”

“And Pink is not classy because...”

“It’s a mix or white and red.”

“Well black isn’t even a colour it’s a shade.” I fire back he smirks rolling his eyes “fine, fine pink it is.” I giggle pushing him lightly “you are such a push over.”

“So we’re not having pink?”

“No,” I reply giggling he raises his eyebrows “wow, what colour than.”

“Black.” I reply he rolls his eyes throwing his hands up shaking his head “I give up with you Jay I give up.”

“Ha-ha you’re hilarious.” I roll my eyes at him making him laugh. “I must say I have a talent for making people laugh.”He says brushing his shoulder I giggle again making him smile. “You like laughing don’t you?” He asks chuckling harder I smile nodding. We’re interrupted by the school bell I get up giving Jack a hug. He smiled wrapping an arm around my waist. “I’ll see you later.”

“See you later,” I grin following Casey out of the class room.

When I get home after Lucy dropped me off I sigh seeing the stack of homework on my desk. Harry hadn’t driven me home because he said something about going out. A part of me thinks he’s actually gone and helped Mary with the history homework and I can’t help but feel sick at the thought. I run upstairs switching my phone of ignoring all the recent texts and face book notifications. I fall onto my bed as soon as my head touches the pillow I’m asleep
