Intro.

Serena's POV

I was hanging around Anistar High, waiting for the one guy I had my eyes on.. Ash. His eyes always made me melt, his smile made me feel all fuzzy inside.. But my feelings went wayyy deeper than that. I'm in love with him. I wanted to tell him how I feel, but I'm a little frightened that he's not gonna feel the same way.. "Serena!" I turn to see Ash walking towards me along with a group of people. "I don't think you've noticed but here are my friends. Here's May, and that's Barry, and...", he was saying. My attention went to his adorable brown eyes.. his shaggy raven hair.. his cute grin. "... And this is my girlfriend Misty.." My heart literally crashed when I heard that. "Wh-What?", I said in a strained voice, feeling like I just got punched by a Machamp. "Huh? I said, this is Misty, my girlfriend.", He said, looking at me. I felt like my entire world was crumbling down right in front of my eyes. I look over at 'Misty'. What is there to like about her? What does she have that I don't? "Uh, Ash? I.. I really need to get home. Mom wants me to practice Rhyhorn racing again. Bye!", I said, not letting him get a single word in and I ran off. The tears slid down my face. Ash had a girlfriend.. and it wasn't me. It was Misty. I ran to the nearest Pokémon Center since I didn't take the bus home to Vaniville Town. I called my Mom, telling her I couldn't make it home since I'd missed the bus. She sighed. "Okay, honey. Just make sure it doesn't happen again.", she says softly. "Ok, mum." I ended the call. "Come out, Fennekin!" I released my Fennekin. It instantly picked up on the fact that I was sad. "Fenn..", It said sadly. I hugged it. "Why couldn't I just tell him..", I whispered softly. "Fennekin..." I paid for the call and went to the desk, and got a room. Nurse Joy handed me the key to my room. About three hours later, I woke up from a nap. I had been crying but I drifted off to sleep. I walked out of my room to go eat in the cafeteria, when suddenly, I had bumped into a girl. "Oh! Sorry!", I apologized. "It's alright-... Hey, you're the girl Ash introduced us to.", She smiled. I looked confused. Maybe I should've paid more attention to his friends' appearances. "Uh.. yeah. I'm Serena.", I said. "I'm Dawn. Hey, wanna walk to the cafeteria together?" "Sure." Me and Dawn walked down the hallway towards the cafeteria. The smell of chicken filled my nostrils. "I really like your outfit.", she said. "Thanks. I got it from my favorite mall." "Wow, really? I got my outfit from MY favorite mall." "Does that mall happen to be..", I pause. "Pichu Paradise?", we both say at the same time. "Wow, I can't believe we have the same favorite mall. Maybe we can go shopping together!", she said excitedly. "Ooh, right now?!" "No, they closed about 30 minutes ago. Maybe the day after tomorrow?" "Sure!", I said happily. Me and Dawn continued talking as we got to the cafeteria. We ordered our food and sat down and talked some more. I think I may have found me a new best friend, which is good timing too. "Hey Serena, I noticed that you weren't too happy earlier. When Ash introduced us to you. What was wrong?" "Well, you see... I'm in love with Ash.." "What?! You are??" "Yeah, ever since I met him, I knew he was gonna be someone special and close to my heart... and I was hoping that one day he would ask me to be his girlfriend. I guess I was wrong." "Serena, I'm sure someone out there really likes you... and chances are, they're better than Ash." "Thank you, Dawn.." "You should meet the rest of the group. I'll introduce you this time.", Dawn winks. "Thanks so much Dawn." ~~ We both head back to our rooms. "Bye Dawn! I'll text you." "Same here. G'night!" I change into my pajamas, and I laid down. What a day it's been. ~~ The next day, I wake up to half a dozen texts from Dawn.

I get up and do my morning routine. After that, I put on a pink long sleeved belly shirt and a pair of dark blue jeggings. I decide to try wearing the pink beanie I've had in my bookbag forever and I put on my regular black sneakers. After straightening the room up, I get out and I return the key to Nurse Joy. "Thank you! Please come again soon.", she said in a cheerful tone. "Oh my Arceus, Serena! You look adorable!", I heard Dawn say. She was wearing a midnight blue dress that perfectly matched her hair. "Aww, Dawn! I love that dress!" "Thank you. Now hurry! Our friends are waiting for us!" "Really?" I hesitantly stepped out of the Pokémon Center to see Ash and the others. "Hey Serena!", Ash waved. "Hm!", I angrily looked the other way. "Huh? Serena, what's wrong?", Ash asked. "Hmm, I already like her.", the purple haired guy smirked. Dawn glared at him. "Er, everyone, this is Serena. Since she's the newest addition to our team, please make her feel welcome." "Hi, I'm May!" "I'm Barry!" Soon, I'm overwhelmed with everyone introducing themselves to me. "Uhh...", I sweatdropped. "Guys, guys, ONE AT A TIME!", Dawn yelled, causing everyone to shut up. Everyone introduces themselves at a slower pace. Then the purple haired guy looks at me and just doesn't say anything. "Um, I'm Serena..", I say awkwardly, holding out my hand. He just glares at my hand. "Uh, that's Paul. It takes him a while to trust anyone new in our group.", Drew whispers. Paul? I look over at Dawn, who is blushing a little. I awkwardly put my hand down at my side. "Hey, there's someone missing..", May stated. "What?! In this already big group, there's another person?", I sweatdropped. "Hey! Sorry I'm late! I-", the guy pauses, staring at me. "You were with another girl, I'm guessing..", Misty sweatdropped. He ignores Misty, rushing to my side, looping his arm around my waist, causing a small squeak to escape my pink lips. "And who might YOU be, gorgeous?", He smirked at me. "Calm yourself, Oak. This is Serena, the new addition to our team, so no flirting!", Misty said. "Not even a little?", he pouted. "You haven't even introduced yourself to her!", Dawn glared at the brown haired boy. "Oh yeah...", he stares down at me, raking his hair back and smirking at me. "Uggghhh not your TRADEMARK introduction!", May facepalmed. I sweatdrop. "Hey, the name's Gary, Gary Oak. I'd like to get to know you better.", he said smoothly. Dawn drags me away from Gary. "Uh, let's walk to school now!", she says. "Um, what's up with that guy?", I whispered to Dawn. "He's a big flirt. Ignore him.." "He seems kinda familiar, like I've met him before but.. I can't put my finger on it.", I thought while looking at the smirking teen. "He seems familiar, but.. I don't know.", I mutter. "Don't tell me you used to date him." "No.. I really don't know but I know him from somewhere..", I look back at Dawn. "Hey Dawn, quit hogging Serena!", Gary said, putting an arm around me. He looks down at me, smirking. "...", I look away, blushing lightly. "Ooo, a shy one. Don't worry, cutie, you won't be quiet for long...", He whispered into my ear. My face turned red. "Aggh! Get away!", I shoved him away and started running. "Serena! Nice going, Gary!", Dawn scowled at Gary. "I've never dealt with flirts before. I don't like it! I don't like him!", I thought. Dawn caught up to me. "Serena, I'm sorry about him, he's just-", Dawn said. "No, no, it's alright. I know how he is.. He's a player.", I sighed. "Just.. keep him away from me.. until I know he won't flirt with me.", I said. "Alright, Serena." "Come on, Serena! I was just playing!!", I heard Gary yell. Finally, I saw the school in sight. It was a month after the school year started. I was gonna kiss Ash at the end of the school year, but now I'm not. This year will be interesting.
