"I think the boys should do this one," I announced.
"Yeah," April and Lane agreed.
"What's the dare?" Brooklyn asked.
"It says 'I DARE two people to go into Georgia's Pet Shop and steal a pet."
"Steal an animal?" Sonic repeated, "Okay, I was fine when we dine-n-dashed. But stealing an innocent pet?"
"Maybe we can return it, once the game is over?" Lane suggested.
"Fine," Brooklyn said, "But how the hell are we supposed to break into the place?"
With some planning and testing out the credit card trick to unlock a door actually worked, we drove the 5 minutes to the pet store. Which is actually the place where we got out dog, Pirate. We got him for my brother on his birthday. They were having adoption day and he was the first dog we seen and the last, because we went right home with him.
Now, I am concerned however, that maybe there is going to be some sort of alarm, once we break in. Like either a loud one or a silent one that contacts the police right away. In any case, the boys will have to grab the first animal they see and make a run for it.
We have had already 2 incident involving us having to run away from some sort of authority, and I'm hoping to not go for a 3rd.
We hopped out of the van, once we arrived at the pet store. The parking lot was deserted, but we still parked in the back to go through the back door.
"If I get arrested, I'm telling the cops you were the girl in the fountain," Brooklyn joked.
The boys inched closer to the door and pulled out the credit card. It only took a second, but they had wiggled the door free. Thankfully, no alarm went off, but that silent one could still be in play.
Us three girls sat in the back of the van with the backdoor open, so we could let our legs dangle out. It grew quiet between us, with nothing to talk about. I always felt awkward in these situations, as everyone probably does. I don't know whether to try and stoke up a conversation or keep it quiet because they would rather have it that way. Thankfully April was the one to break the silence.
"So," She started, "What happened between you two?" That's not how I wanted the silence to be broken.
"What?" Lane asked.
"You and Reese, why aren't you friends?"
"Let's not get into it," I said.
"Why not? Nows a good time as ever. I only know that you two stopped talking after what happened, why?"
Lane and I looked at each other, knowing this conversation had to happen one day, we just didn't think it would be now.
"She told me she didn't know who to believe, Lauren or I and said she didn't want to be in the middle of it."
Lane sighed, "Both of you were my friends. How am I supposed to pick a side like that."
"But you know me, Lane. Longer than we've known Lauren, I might add. And you know I would never do something like that."
"I know," Lane said, "I don't agree with them posting you picture all over, but it did show you in bed with Alex."
"So you believe her?" I asked, offended.
"No! I uh, " Lane paused, "I don't know who to believe. I wouldn't want to be friends with you if you actually did do it. And I didn't want to be friends with Lauren because she posted those pictures."
