"Okay, maybe I don't want this dare," Sonic pleaded, "I'll definitely get the next one though.""Oh no," I said, "This one is all yours."
The dare was for one of the guys to dress in drag and get 3 guys numbers. For each number we got, we got a point. But Sonic was backing out.
"Where am I supposed to get a dress anyway?"
"We could go to my house and you could borrow one of mine," April said, "I live like 5 minutes from here."
"Cool, and we could use your makeup for him too!" Lane laughed.
"Wait wait," Sonic held up his hands, "It only said to dress in drag. It didn't say anything about wearing makeup."
"You have to wear makeup," I said.
"Fine," Sonic said, "But if I do this, I get to pick the person to do the next dare!"
"Deal," I said, not wanting to waste anymore time.
The drive to April's was short, but when we pulled into her neighborhood, I was taken back. It was the ritzy part of our town, where the rich lived. Every house we drove by was breathtaking. We even drove by Lauren's house. I looked at her front yard and smiled when I seen her treehouse still standing.
Lauren, Lane and I would have our sleepovers in that treehouse. It was our favorite place to be. It felt like a safe place for us to be ourselves and share our secrets to each other. I remember the night before my 16th birthday, we had a sleepover and Lane and Lauren gave me my presents that night. Lane got me a bracelet that I had been wanting, which I am actually currently still wearing, and Lauren bought me a journal. She told me that if there was anything going on in my life that I didn't want to talk to her or Lane about, to write in there. And on every single page, she left a little note, with the words, 'Don't forget you are my best friend and I love you,' which made me smile. Also that night, we snuck 2 of her mom's bottles of wine into the treehouse and got drunk. The next morning however, we all were sick and Lauren's parents called our parents. And that's the time I spent my birthday grounded.
"Won't your family be sleeping?" Brooklyn asked.
"Oh god no," She said, opening the front door, "My grandparents and dad are night owls. They won't be asleep till at least midnight or 1."
"Is that you April?" A women called out. She stepped into the hallway, "Oh, if I knew you were bringing friends, I would have set some food out."
"No need Grams. We will only be here for a minute, but thank you."
"Oh my god," I said, "You're grandma is Carrie Holmes?"
"From Loves of Our Lives?" Sonic asked. We all looked over at him, "What? A guy can't like soaps?"
"April why did you never mention your grandma was Carrie Holmes aka Rose Kensington."
"It never came up," She shrugged.
Starstuck, I walked over to Carrie, "Mrs.Holmes, it's a pleasure to meet you. My mom and I watch your soap opera all the time. I'm Reese, by the way."
"Oh, you're April's new friend. It's nice to meet you sweetie. Why don't you guys come in the kitchen I baked some cookies."
"Why don't you and Brooklyn go to the kitchen with my grandma and Lane and I will take Sonic to my room and get him dressed," April said.
"What?" Sonic whined, "But I want to talk to Carrie Holmes and eat cookies too."
Lane and April pulled Sonic upstairs, while Brooklyn and I followed Carrie to the kitchen.
"I can't believe I'm about to eat cookie made by Carrie Holmes," I whispered to Brooklyn.
