What is it that District Five produces? That's right, power. So if there's one thing we can always expect from this District is very powerful Tributes!
And that may just be the case this year!
Just like always, the girls were reaped first. I've never understood the significance of that. Was it because of the old saying "Ladies first"? Who knows!
As expected, there were no volunteers. The likeliness of volunteers becomes more and more slim as we get further in the Districts. I'm sure I wasn't the only one to notice the glimmer of hope in the representative's eyes as he asked for volunteers. Everyone wants to make headlines nowadays! (I don't blame them! This place needs some excitement!)
The female that was reaped was Katherine Meow.
There was no mistaking the look of disgust that took place on the pretty red-haired girl's face as she strutted towards the stage, accepting her fate. She crossed her arms and keeps her mouth clamped shut as the citizens of District Five ogled at her.
Of course we wanted to know more about this hard-faced beauty, so we asked around.
15-year-old Katherine, who prefers to be called Kat, is the daughter of a power plant worker. Everyone in town spoke highly of the girl. A few people showed worry about the young girl.
"Kat is a very polite young lady. She's very kind, so I hate to say that she's slightly naive. I know she's an incredibly intelligent girl, but I hope she doesn't let her guard down."
Hm, I wonder how innocent little Kat will do in the arena?
After Kat mounted the stage, the representative didn't hesitate to reap the boys.
Our male Tribute for District Five this year is a lanky boy by the name of Max Flint.
At first I thought he was going to be sick, with his expression he wore when the cameras landed on him. But I was surprised when I look of dignity overtook his face and he stepped bravely to the stage.
One feature that I thought stuck out on him was a small scar running over his left eyebrow. That alone made me question the actual strength of the tall boy. Then he flashed he flashed the camera a slight smile, just big enough to cause butterflies to form in your stomachs, I have no doubt.
(I'm sure the ladies are all pleasantly enjoying the eye-candy this year's Games has come to bring; First it was Sage, now Max!)
The citizens of District Five seemed very comfortable with the reaping. A few actually admitted that they thought District Five has a chance at winning it this year.
One person in particular seemed confident in the 17-year-old Max, his father, Taio,
"Max is strong, he's smart and he's fast; all very promising qualities of a Tribute. I have no doubt that Max will excel in these Games,"
I love the competitiveness already forming, before the Game has even started!
So, citizens of Panem, what do you think of District Five's Tributes? Are you not completely sold on Kat's innocence? Do you believe that there is more beneath the surface? Or has handsome Max Flint caught your eye? Does District Five's confidence have you leaning in their direction?
Like always, leave a comment with your thoughts!
Happy Hunger Games
