(Two years later)
It was morning at Darwin Elementary School in a small city called Maynard County when a six year old girl , Manaolana, and a seven year old girl, Kirie, met.
Kirie had light skin and short, straight, black hair and always wore long sleeves or a jacket and pants to school even if it was a hot day. Her style was always the same. Her shoes were worn out and old. She also got teased from the clothes she wore. She was very quiet and smart. She only said something when she needs too.
All Kirie wanted to do was to disappear. She never bother to make a friend or get close to someone. She was afraid that her so called friend would teased her like the rest of kids. She thought everyone would make fun of her for the rest of her life. So she was always alone at school, besides the group of kids that would bully her. She was afraid to get close to someone because she feels like she'll lose that person, just how she lost her mom. But she glad that no one knew her past.
While Manaolana had tanned skin with long, wavy brown hair. She wore different types of clothes but always wore her lucky black leather jacket. Her style was boy like and sometimes they'll call her a tomboy but she didn't care. She embraced it.
She always tried to be positive, always tried to make the ones around her laugh, and tried her best to protect the ones she cared about, which was the pack of wolves(no one knew about that). She didn't really have any true friends that she cares about.
Sure Manaolana doesn't want stuff happening to innocent people but yet she wanted to care about someone differently, like they're not just any other person. She wanted someone that she'll do anything for and never let go of. She wanted to mean something to someone and maybe finally have a true friend.
Both kept their feelings hidden. Both wanted to know what it feels like to mean something to someone again. Both were so alike but yet they never talked until that one day.

It was the first day of 2nd grade for Kirie and Manaolana. It was morning so all the kids were out on the playground waiting for the bell to ring which calls them into class. It was a small, low budget school so all the kids had to share a playground.
Manaolana was was playing tether ball while a group of bigget 2nd graders were already bullying Kirie on the first day.
"Haha look at her she's so short," one of the 2nd graders said. "Didn't you wear that sweater all last year?" Asked another.
The sound of mocking caught Manaolana's attention, but she just brushed it off. If it gets worse that's when she'll step in. "She'll be fine." Manaolana thought and continued her game but kept a eye on Kirie just in case.
"Please leave me alone" Kirie whispered. "She talks?!?! Hey guys look, the mouse talks! Well more like squeak. Haha", a blacked haired 2nd grade girl said. Mostly everyone called her mouse because she was small and didn't talk much but when she did, they'll call them squeaks.
"Of course I talk I just don't prefer to. Now leave me alone." She said a little louder this time. She was getting annoyed with all these kids. "Guys look she's getting mad! What are you going to do about it huh? You're just a little, weak girl. You won't do nothing." This time a 2nd grade boy with blonde hair and blue eyes said while giving her a little push.
Kirie had enough. She pushed back the boy, but then immediately regretted it when she seen the look on his face. The boy's face was filled with anger.
"Did you just push me? Oh you made a big mistake." The boy punched her, and with Kirie's small and fragile body, she went down easily and her nose started to bleed. All kids stopped what they were doing and crowded around the two and chanted fight.
The boy picked Kirie up from her jacket, which had some blood on it, and was getting ready to punch her again. But Manaolana seen the punch from afar and anger boiled up inside of her. She didn't like when a innocent person got hurt. She walked right out of her tether ball game and pushed her way to the center of the circle and just in time.
"Put her down Luke." Manaolana said in a confident, stern tone. "Aw c'mon Maddy I'm just having a little fun. Care to join?", the boy called Luke said. Kirie looked at Manaolana in terror. She did not want anyone else to hit her.
"No, never. Now put her down, she did nothing to you" Manaolana replied. "What?!? Did you not see what happened she pushed me. Let me just get one punch." Luke was getting ready to hit her again when Manaolana spoke again.
"She only pushed you cause you pushed her first! I would have done the same too! Now put her down or you're going to be the one that gets punched"
"Fine, only because I did that thing and you were really cool about it" Luke finally dropped Kirie and said to his friends," C'mon guys let's go."
Manaolana rushed to Kirie to see if she was alright. "Are you ok? Here let me help you up." She held out a hand to Kirie, who was on the floor, for her to grab. Kirie grabbed it and pulled herself up.
"Your nose, it's covered in blood." "It's fine" Kirie covered her nose so Manaolana won't see how bad it was. All she wanted was for her to leave her be. She didn't want to be around anyone right now.
"No it's not. Now let go to the restroom to clean it up." Manaolana grabbed Kirie's other hand and was about to lead her to the restroom when she realized the group of kids were still standing there looking at them.
"What are you guys looking at. Go stare at something else would ya?" And just like that the kids left and the girls went to the restroom.
Kirie didn't argue with her, she did really want to get the blood off of her. Manaolana got a napkin and wet it. She used the damped napkin to wipe off the blood.
After when she was done Kirie finally spoke. "Thanks for standing up for me and for cleaning me up." "Don't mention it. Hey I never got your name anyway."
Kirie's face went red. No kids has asked her for her name before. "Kirie Sol, but everyone called me mouse." " But that's not you're name so I'll call you Kirie"
Kirie smiled at her kindness. No one called her by her real name, besides the teachers. "By the way my names Manaolana Fidem." Kirie tried pronouncing her name but failed. "Mon- Man- Manila-"
Manaolana chuckled at her attempts. "You can call me Maddy if you want." Kirie laughed too. It has been a while since she felt true happiness. "Yeah that probably be the best"
  Ring
"Thats the bell who do you have for a teacher?" Maddy asked. "Mr. Han." Kirie replied while they walked out of the restroom. "Oh so do I. Wanna walk to class together?" "I'll like that."
So they did and when they walked into class, Kirie separated from Maddy and sat in the back like she always does. But Maddy went to the back also and took the seat next to her. Kirie was surprised. She thought Maddy would have left her and went to go sit at another desk. Kirie looked at her and Maddy looked back and smiled, and Kirie smiled back, which had been a long time since she smiled.
"Ok kids whose ready for another amazing school year?" The teacher asked. But Kirie wasn't paying attention she was too busy thinking. "Have I finally made a friend?" She asked herself. But she didn't know the answer to that. Only time will tell.
