Dana P.O.V.
I stared at him for long moments before I sighed, "I knew."
John's head snapped up, "What?!!? What do you mean you knew?!?!?!?!?"
Another silence followed before I whispered, "The night we were going to have a sleepover in your treehouse and you canceled, I was already in the treehouse. I was asleep when I heard this strange sound, like a horn blowing in the distance and I...I looked down. And there you were, staring down a wolf. I almost screamed but I couldn't make a sound. Nothing. I could only watch as you fought for your life against a wolf." My voice trembled but I pressed on, "You were so scared. Without thinking, I reached out for you, when I did, I saw this blue light that intertwined with a gold one and then there a brilliant flash of white light that shimmered and disappeared. And I sound insane. I'm pretty sure it was all a dream and I need some more hot coco. Heh." With that I abruptly stood up and made my way to the kitchen. John didn't do anything to stop me. I quickly put my mug of milk in the microwave before I dropped the cup and took a shaky breath. I had never told anyone that. Why now?
John P.O.V.
He gazed at the doorway she had walked through for a long time before he simply stared at the floor. She was there? How could she know? That's what the light was! It was his soul and hers intertwining. What I am thinking about?!?!? It's official, I've completely lost it. She can't know, she can't find out. She would run and I would lose her.
John sighed heavily as he raked his hands through his hair and standing up, he headed towards his room. Wow, he was calling the guest room his now. Lord, how had things slipped through his fingers so fast? No, stop thinking like this, you have to think about the case and those girls. You have to make sure that she kills no one else. Ok, John took a deep breath and went to take a shower, hoping that he or worse, Dana, didn't do anything rash.
Dana P.O.V.
What on earth am I doing? I've officiously lost my mind! Here I am going on about some light when there are those poor girls who are completely defenseless and it is up to me to save them. I felt my eyes narrow as I nodded decisively and went to my room to take a shower and promptly forgot about my hot chocolate. I quickly scrubbed down, threw on some clothes, and rushed out of the house with the file in my hand. I made it to the office and rushed to the chief's office.
He looked up when I knocked and nodded my gravely in. I looked at him with confusion as he said nothing, simply handed me a file. My curiousity and anxiety spiked while I slowly opened it. Everything in me told me to close it, drop it, do anything but keep staring. They were pictures of lifeless brown eyes that had only the day before sparkled with life. I held in the gasp as I looked at the wall behind her and read the words, "I'm coming for you Dana Hatter. Run. Run as fast as you can and take the ShadowWalker with you. Things might get messy. We wouldn't want anyone else to die, now would we?" I swallowed hard when I realized that it was Dawn's blood. My blood curdled and chills ran up my spine.
Then I hardened, I'll kill the person who did this to her, I'll kill them. The Chief gazed at my expression and nodded once before saying, "Find this monster Dana, find them and give them what they deserve." I nodded swiftly before turning and striding out of the room with the look of a thunder cloud. Here comes the thunder I thought bitterly.
