Dana P.O.V.
"Dana!? Dana?! Oh my god."
I raised bloodshot eyes to John and watched in a daze as he ran toward me.
"John..."
I whispered as I tried to raise my head. I reached toward him when he suddenly froze and a twisted and dark look came over his face. I opened my mouth to speak but stopped as I watched as John's face contorted and seemed to melt off, leaving behind the once beautiful face of a woman turned ugly by the sneer on her face and the malice in her eyes. One of her eyes burned midnight blue while the other was a harsh and cold violet. I gasped.
"You're the one that has been leaving the messages and t-the heart."
I had begun to shake violently as I gazed upon this monstrosity. The one who had terrorized me ever since I started the case. She was the one who had killed Dawn. The last thought fueled my anger and disgust and I dragged myself up to stand tall. The creature tilted her head to the side slightly and said,
"Hmm, you're stronger than I gave you credit for. The poison that I ran through your veins didn't kill you when it should have. Who or What are you Dana Hatter? How could you have fought the poison of the shadow demons and lived?"
I gazed at her as if she were mad because as far as I was concerned, she was. Why was she saying these things? Why was she asking What I was? I'm human, darn it. The way she is studying me though, as if I weren't. As if I were something else. Well, she did make in rain blood and devastated a girl's body just to get her message across. Wait, did she say demon? I blinked and moved to the side when I realized that she was only a few inches away from me now. How did she move so fast? Did I really space out again when I'm facing down a demon? Oh good lord. I gazed back at her with a stone cold fascade and let my eyes glaze over to hide all emotions. I had always specialized in hiding my emotions so this was a walk in the park for me.
The demon's eyes narrowed as she watched my shield slip on. Then she smiled. It was blinding white and seemingly joyful. I almost cringed back, almost. I acted as though it didn't affect me however and the demon chuckled.
"Well now, I expected you to crumble and fall at my feet begging for forgiveness. How dissapointing."
"I'm sorry I couldn't live up to such high expectations."
I smirked with sarcasm dripping from my every word. Her eyes narrowed further into slits and swiftly, she delivered a punch to my stomach that had me spitting up blood and gasping in pain.
"Well now, I don't especially appreciate such sarcasm."
"Too bad it's my specialty."
A fury so powerful came over her face before she grabbed mine and spat out,
"You were never supposed to be born! You unworthy piece of trash! Why this form though? You could have chosen to be anything but no, you chose this."
