Wings, Troubles, and Memories
Aphin's POV
I waved to that little kid, Amber, I think her name was? She was wandering down the hall on the way out of my office. I turned around and began to clean up my equipment.
As I placed the stethoscope away in the proper drawer? I could fell my huge white wings fold away from behind me. It was a strange feeling, really. It was a relief, but also a bit sad. The wings were heavy, but they felt so natural.
I finished cleaning up, then grabbed my small brown purse and headed down to the cafeteria. Upon arrival, I scanned the enormous room until I saw my best friend Cass in the far corner. She was doing everything short of jumping up and down to get my attention. As I walked closer, I could hear her calling me.
"APHIN! APHIN! OVER HEAR!" She was screaming, earning some strange looks from the people around her. I giggled.
"Don't worry Cass. I'm coming." I called back. I made my way through the sea of people over to her, wishing Moses would appear and part it for me. I finally arrived next to her, and sat down.
"Hey Aphin! How was your day?" She asked. She loved to gloat about the fact that she only had to work half a day, whereas I worked a full one.
"Ugh. Busy." I sighed, and pulled out my lunch. I had just poped the first sushi roll into my mouth when a voice rang out over the loud speaker.
"Dr. Aphin, please report to the directors office." Cass gave me a bewildered expression, and I rose to go see the director.

I hesitated before pushing open the door. I reached up, and tucked my strand of purple hair under the rest of my hair. The director wasn't a fan of dyed hair. I touched the gold place which read "Director", and opened the door.
"Ah. Yes. Glad you could make it Aphin." The director's cold beady eyes fixated on me.
"What is it Dr. A?" I asked her.
"That's Mr. Director to you." He said, still staring at me. "I heard another report today. Another story of a doctor with wings."
"So?" I asked, afraid of the answer.
"You know how I feel about those... monstrosities. Now, Aphin, you're one of my best doctors. I'd hate to let you go. But if you keep flaunting those.... things around, I'm afraid you can't stay here. The stories that people tell could damage our reputation."
"But sir! I can't control them. It just... happens!"
"You could once."
"I... could?" I responded. Suddenly, the world went black.

I woke up in a hospital bed. From a glance, I could see it was in Cass' wing. Standing over me, was the Director.
"Remember Aphin. No. More. Chances."

A/NHey guys. I know this is late. But I want to address a few things about this story.
First - Although the story is fictional, Rainie, Dashie, Cooler, and Aphin are all real people. My friends online. And yes, the future ships are all real too.
Second - Aphin, and why this chapter is late. You don't know how many times I've rewritten this chapter. Many more than the others. This is for one reason. Aphin, to me, seemed like a character without flaws. Rainie is a bubbly fangirl who is a tad naive, Dashie is a hotheaded adventurer, Cooler is an emotional leader, and Aphin...
Well she was perfect. Because I often don't see her flaws. She's my idol, and she doesn't realize it. She encouraged me to write when I thought no one cared. She's the reason you see this fanfic once a week. It's because of her that I'm anyone at all.So what I'm trying to say is - She's the least defined as a character, so lots of room for growth. But, also, Just,
THANK YOU APHIN. Because this whole story is for you.Word count - 678 words
