01. Past

Naka's POV (6 years old)

I woke up extra early today so that I could go into town to get mama a birthday present before she woke up. It was 9am when I got to town so there was very little people walking around.

There was this shop that I liked a lot because it had a lot of cool things inside. I walked inside and saw the old man sitting at the counter. "Good morning Naka. What brings you here today?" "I wanna buy mama a present for her birthday, and I thought that your store had a lot of things to choose from!" I replied with a huge smile on my face.

"Well look around for something and bring it to me so that I can get it checked out for you," the old man said.

I walked to the back of the store remembering a necklace with a golden rose pendant and a small crystal in the center was there.

I saved up my money from my allowance to buy this necklace today.

After grabbing it off the shelf I brought it to the old man to get it checked out and walked out of the store.

On my way home I saw this vendor with a beautiful white fruit with swirls covering it.

"Oh hello there young lady. May I help you with something?" The man asked me with a grin on his face.

"How much is that fruit in the back of the stand, mister?"

"Oh this thing right here? This is free, but you need to come with me in the back if you want it."

Being the clueless child I was, I followed him in the back thinking nothing of it. The man turned around and gave me the fruit and said,"okay, you can eat it now"

I took a bite from the fruit. And let me tell you that is was the worst thing that I every eaten, but something about it kept me from spitting it out and throwing it away.

The man gave me a glass of water to wash out the taste, but when I drank it I felt light headed and fell asleep.

The Man's POV

She fell asleep once she drank the water. I tied her up and called boss with my den den mushi. "I found someone who ate the fruit. I'll return to the ship soon." "Great, now my experiments will begin shortly," boss replied with an obvious grin on his face.

Naka's POV

I woke up with a massive headache. I tried to sit up but I was held down by...ropes? I could only see darkness since I had something over my eyes.

"You're finally awake sweetie. We can start with our experiments now."

'Experiments? Where am I? Who said that?' I couldn't speak because my throat is dry and scratchy.

There was a whirring sound, then a ton of pain in my side. I tried to scream but nothing came out. I was bonded down and saw nothing. I felt a warm liquid start to seep into my clothes.

The sound stopped, but I felt a needle pierce my upper arm. A burning sensation spread through my veins as a liquid seeped into my skin. The pain in my side was nothing compared to this.

After a while the burning ceased, but I felt numb.

"Open you mouth and drink this quickly," a harsh voice said. I refused but my mouth was forced open and a cool liquid entered my mouth. 'I guess it's just water'

"Where am I?" I croaked. "Oh honey your with me. I'm just gonna make you very powerful, so that you can take out all pirates. I'll be known and feared throughout the world with the greatest weapon in my possession." A menacing laugh soon followed after the voice. "You'll be mine forever sweetie"

•••Timeskip 2years•••

Dr. Vulcan was performing yet another experiment on me. It wasn't painful anymore because I got used to it. I found out that I can regenerate instantly and could now withstand immense pain.

As Dr. Vulcan was cutting off my fingers again, there was a loud bang. I still had my blindfold on since I got here so I had no idea what's going on. I haven't been able to see since 2 years ago, but my hearing is absolutely perfect.

"Shit.." I heard Dr.Vulcan quickly turn off his saw and toss it down while he got up, throwing his chair back in the process.

"Marco the Phoenix huh? Didn't think that they would send someone like you after me."

'Marco? Phoenix? What's going on here who's that?'

"Well now Dr.Vulcan, I only came here for some files, but now that I see what you are doing to people, I decided to get rid of you and save this damsel in distress."

'Wtf, I'm no damsel'

There was this yelp and a crash heard. I felt the chains loosen and fall from my hands. I tried getting up, but I fell since I haven't been on me feet for 2years.

I was lifted off the ground and set down on the metal platform. The blindfold was taken off my face, but I shut my eyes from the bright light. "Ugh, too bright." I peeked through my eyes lids and slowly opened them to get used to the light.

In front of me was a man that resembled a pineapple. "Who are you?"
"My name is Marco. What's your name?"

"Naka Rose"
