It was just another morning in GV. The one in which a heavily pregnant Naira was still sleeping. Kartik was yet doing his favourite job, staring at his lady love.
He still after 3 years of their marriage wasn't convinced that Naira was his. That dreams do come true. He still remembered the first ever dream he had featuring his wife, then enemy Naira. It happened in a divine place, the place he realised that whatever he had for this woman he hated was not really hate. But something just as deep. Love. He never hated her to be fair, he just didn't like the attitude she threw at him.
But past is past. He had went ahead and married this sherni. Now she was 8 months pregnant. She looked large from her tummy, but more endearing to him than ever. He adored her more than he ever did. Speaking to his baby girl, when his wife was sleeping.
He knew she had his princess in her tummy. And he possibly loved her even more than his wife. Well not really, but it was a close call, a very close call. He went ahead to freshen up as he had to leave for office.
He asked keerti to arrange for breakfast of his queen. Not that maa, dadi left any scope of mistake with her, but he made it a point to have breakfast with her. It was the only time he could talk to her. And beginning his day with her was the best thing ever according to lover boy kartik.
Keerti came in with breakfast only to find naira sleeping. She kept the breakfast tray at the bedside table and stepped out of their bedroom silently.
Kartik on getting ready went and sat besides his wife, running his hands through her tresses massaging her scalp a bit. He knew she loved that. And as expected she snuggled into him, giving out a loud sigh. "Wake up jaan. It's morning." Kartik said.
"Hmm." Naira just responded. Going and settling in his lap. "Good morning sweetheart." Kartik whispered in her ear. He kissed her softly, marvelling at her cupid shaped soft rosy lips. She responded equally. Giving her one last peck on lips, he diverted his attention to his princess. "Good morning baby doll." He said.
May be his doll heard him, as she moved and Naira winced. "She always responds to you." Naira said. "I can talk to her all I want, she would never give me an instantaneous response. Why is that sweety?"
"Go jaan freshen up, so I can have breakfast I'm hungry." Kartik said.
"How can you be hungry this early in the morning jaan. I hate eating even before waking up" Naira grumbled. Yet went to the bathroom slowly, keeping one hand on her protruding abdomen, another on the paining back. She thought pregnancy was a pain really.
She washed her face and after brushing and attending necessary calls, stepped out to have breakfast. It was when the ceiling revolved. And she landed in the very known hands of her husband. Worry clearly written on his face.
"Careful." He whispered. Making naira stand on her feet he straightened up. "Are you fine?" he said touching her face all over, examining for any sign of injury. Though kartik knew she was safe.
"I'm good jaan. Don't worry." Naira said. Slightly breathless. Her hand protectively around her protruding abdomen. Her shock only for the small life inside her.
She thought her baby was okay, but a spasm of pain shot through her spine. And water gushed down her thighs. And she shouted the name she thought would be her saviour, "Kartik."
Kartik was bewildered. He didn't know what to do. He was thinking she was fine, but the water that just gushed down her legs, was screaming otherwise. So was Naira. Her scream was the worst thing he had ever heard. He prayed he never had to hear that again.
Unable to understand anything kartik picked her up and ran downstairs. Keerti was first to spot him and Naira was wincing yet, if the blood on her lower lip was anything to judge by she was holding her shouts.
