Early morning. Another regular day at school. On the other hand, maybe not. Today was supposed to be different. Sixteen-year-old girl, her parents and sister have moved to America just yesterday. Everything was new and sometimes confusing for her. The girl was preparing to school. Her first choice of what to wear was her usual white tank top with green star in the middle, blue shorts and dark pink gym shoes. Fortunately, despite the fact of the status of the school, there was no rule about wearing uniforms. She quickly ate breakfast in silence and got to the car with her mother. She's been thinking all the way to school about her first day at Gotham High. Young teenage girl didn't even notice when they stopped on the parking in front of the building. She was all consumed by her thoughts. Suddenly her mother broke the silence.

"I know that it may be tough for you honey... but we didn't have a choice. You have nothing to worry about." She looked at her mother and forced a smile.

"I am not worried mom. Everything is fine." She replied grabbing her backpack and leaving the car. The girl went a little forward and turned back looking at her parent leaving. Next, she went through the entrance. When she made a first step in the hall and saw so much people at once, her eyes widened and mind brought back her earlier doubts and concerns. The school she was attending to before wasn't even half as big as this. She was staying still when suddenly the bell rang resonating in the whole building. She quickly took out her schedule looking for the first lesson. Math in classroom 350. She looked around to ask somebody for help in finding the right room. For her misfortune, everyone was already gone. She was straying for a long time but for nothing. This school looked for her like a labyrinth. From the ground floor to almost to the roof, she's been looking for the right number on the door. Looking at her schedule, the girl was still going down the hall. Suddenly someone ran into her causing both to fall. With a little shock she opened her eyes and saw young boy quickly standing up in front of her. He had spiky black hairs, dark sunglasses covering his eyes, pair of blue jeans, white t-shirt, kinda a little orange and red jacket and black gym shoes. (NOTE FROM AUTHOR: I have no idea if I described it okay, let's just imagine it's fine xD I'm not good at this stuff :P) The girl didn't really know what to say or if she was suppose to be angry, but then she saw an offering hand.

"Oh my God, I'm so sorry! I didn't mean to, I mean... I didn't see you coming and..." He said breathing heavily. It seemed like he's been running for a while. Young girl grabbed his hand and stood in front of him.

"It is the okay. I do not mind." Boy looked confused at her. She blushed a little and quickly added. "I am sorry, I am not from here and I am still learning the language."

"No, no, no, no, it's good to me. Actually, your accent is pretty good. Richard Grayson by the way. But you can call me Dick." He said again offering his hand and feeling a little guilty of his reaction.

"Kori Anders. It is nice to meet you, but I must go." Kori said smiling and taking her schedule.

"Wait! If you're not from here it means you're new, right?." He asked interested.

"Correct." She simply answered.

"Maybe I could help you find your class?"

"That would be glorious!" She replied happily handing him her schedule.

"Alright, let's see... Hmm... looks like we're classmates. Great! Follow me." Richard smiled and led her right to the classroom. When they entered the room, the math teacher immediately showed his disappointment.

"Richard Grayson. Late as usual. I've already ran out of the patience last time. Just sit in your place." He said with no emotion in his voice. When Dick went to his desk, the teacher could finally notice the girl who was standing behind.

"And you are...?" He asked tiredly.

"My name is Kori Anders. I am the new student." She responded quietly that only teacher could hear her.

"I see... Let's hope it's the last time you're late. Find yourself a place to sit." Kori immediately found an empty place. It was next to Richard. She sat and heard him saying reassuring words to her.

"Don't worry. He's always like this. Just ignore him." The girl grinned and nodded.

"Mr. Grayson, do I interrupt you? No? That's great. So... now that I have your attention, maybe you could learn something." The teacher said sarcastically.

Lesson was long and boring. Richard was studying a newly met girl eftsoons when she wasn't looking into his way. His heart was racing every time he looked at her. He didn't even notice when the bell rang. Kori came up to him and asked shyly:

"Dick, I was wondering if you could show me around here. I do not want to intrude upon you, but I would really appreciate your help." Her tone, her shining and pleading emerald green eyes, even her pose made him to be weak at the knees.

"Yeah, sure. Follow me. Since we have a free period we got some time to make a quick trip after the school." Richard answered trying to stay cool. The girl smiled and went right after her new friend.

He was showing her every place, every alley he knew in this school. They obviously started with classrooms, next he showed where the bathrooms, director's office and canteen are. In other words almost everything. Their last stop was the sports ground. They both sat onto the tribunes and sighed with relief. This surely was a quick trip.

"So... What brings you to Gotham? I mean... This isn't the best city you could've chosen. It's kinda creepy sometimes." Dick started.

"My dad got a new job in here. Actually, we did not have a choice." She said with a little sad expression on her face.

"Oh... How do you feel about all of this?" He knew her just for about 2 hours but felt like if it was at least 2 years.

"I am still confused but I think I will manage. Mostly I am grateful for meeting you. You are really kind."

"Thanks, but it's me who should be grateful." He said playfully then looking away.

"Why?" Kori asked with curiosity.

"I feel I've just met a new friend." She grinned happily at his comment and looked at the sky. After a few minutes, they realized it's almost time for another lesson. They quickly got up and went toward the building. It was a long day. Lesson by the lesson, every 45 minutes felt like eternity. On the lunch Kori met Dick's friends, Rachel, Garfield and Victor. They all immediately accepted Kori as one of them. They trusted Dick with his instinct with people. Somehow, he always knew who's a good person. Dick and Kori ended their lesson earlier than the others did. She was supposed to wait for her mom to pick her up so Dick decided to accompany her.

"Alright... What's your favorite color?" He asked another question to learn something more about his new friend.

"Green. How about you?" She replied in the same moment when she heard a horn of her mother's car. "I am sorry, I need to go. Thank you again for showing me everything here."

"At your service." He replied playfully bowing in front of her. They both laughed. "Before you go, maybe we can exchange the phone numbers?"

"Sure!"

They did as they said. Then again they've heard a horn of Kori's mother car.

"I will be better going. Bye Dick!" She said walking away and waving to him.

"Bye Kori, see you tomorrow!" He replied with one last smile before she disappeared.

When she got into the car, her mother immediately asked in very characteristically way about the her new friend.

"Who was that boy standing next to you?"

"My new friend. His name is Richard. He helped me to find myself in here a little."

The girl replied with light blush on her cheeks.

"So, I guess that your first day at school wasn't that bad?" Mother asked with curiosity.

"Indeed. Actually... I think I am going to like living in here." Kori answered happily. Seeing this her mother smiled and just nodded.
