Day 6

“Bella,” Gabe called from downstairs. “Calum’s out front!”

“Why?” I call back, yanking my brush through my hair in hopes of getting out the tangles.

“Not sure, but you need to leave now!”

I groaned, throwing my hair up in a bun on the top of my head. I quickly throw my backpack over my right shoulder, grabbing the bagel out of Gabe’s hand and pressing a quick kiss to his cheek on my way out of the house.

I stop in my tracks when I see Calum leaning against his car, smiling at my look of confusion.

“Well come on,” He smirked. “You’ve taken long enough.”

“What’s with the car?” I ask, swinging my back into the back seat before making myself comfortable in the passenger seat.

“Do you trust me?” He dodged my question.

“I mean, I guess.” I shrug.

“I’m going to take that as a yes,” He faced me, laughing as I turned his face back so he was looking at the road.

“You can take it as a yes if you tell me what’s going on,” I pause, my mouth opening in shock as he drives past the school. “And don’t tell me nothing if it’s obvious we’re ditching.”

“I talked it over with Gabe, he’s covering for us.”

“You’re crazy,” I rolled my eyes, slumping back into my seat.

“You’re just noticing it now?” He laughed out, but kept his eyes on the road to please me.

“You’re just noticing it now?” I mocked, sticking my tongue out as we stopped at a red light.

“Stop copying me.”

“Stop copying me.”

“Stop it!” Calum laughed.

“Stop it!”

Calum paused for a moment before speaking again, “Calum is the sexiest person in the whole world.”

“Bella is the sexiest person in the whole world.” I smirked at his sound of annoyance.

“You’re impossible.”

“Why yes, yes I am.”

“Where are we going?” I laugh as Calum bites his bottom lip.

“That’s a good question.”

“Wait, you don’t know where we’re going?” I groan. “Calum!”

“Hey, hey, hey; it’s all part of the plan, babe.” I tried to ignore the small fluttering in my chest at the pet name, trying, and failing, to focus on my annoyance.

“But we’re lost.” I groan, running my hands over my face.

“We’re not lost, we’re on an adventure.” He stressed.

“Calum, there’s nothing here but grass and cows.” I laugh, gesturing to the rolling hills surrounding the car.

Suddenly the car made a strange noise, almost a popping sound as Calum tried to maneuver it to the side of the road. We were a few feet away when it started making a grinding noise and Calum put it in park, racing out to check on it.

I quickly followed, my gaze following the shreds of the left rear tired scattered across the road before landing on the small amount of rubber covering the slightly dented rim.
