Prologue - Blaze's POV
My name is Blaze Harris, I'm seventeen years old. I have sandy blonde hair, and sea green eyes. I'm a little over average height for a boy my age, and lightly muscular. I figured we'd get the tedious basics out of the way from the start. My best friends are a girl named Jade, and a guy named Jake. Funny I know, the way they'd have the same name if you changed a letter. They have different personalities though, very different, I assure you. Jade is a special girl, and more special than I've ever seen before. Jake has no idea how special she is, but I do. Instead of telling you, why don't I show you?
*** Three years prior*****
Jade and I are in the middle of our occasional argument about something stupid. It's always stupid when we fight, and it's always pointless too. Sometimes she drives me insane though and it's all I can do to remain as my calm and collected self. I lied, I'm not that calm. I am collected though. My thoughts are always in order, so imagine my distress when Jade comes and muddles all through them. That's why we argue.
"You are not dating Jake!" I exclaim.
"Who are you? My father?!" She snaps back. This fight, was a particularly bad one as I recall.
"May as well! I have to watch you like a hawk! I don't trust Jake, he's bad for you." I tell her because I am genuinely concerned. This is before Jake and I became friends, when Jade was attracted to him. 'It's not fair' I think.
"Jake's fine." She says.
"No! I'd rather die than have him end up hurting you." I say.
"He won't!" She yells, suddenly a branch next to my face catches on fire. I jump back in surprise and alarm, rubbing my burnt ear. It'll scar. Jade looks at me, her eyes drawn wide.
"What happened!" She exclaims. I do not believe I just did that.
"I did that." I mutter.
"What do you mean? You couldn't have-" I cut her off.
"I'm a fire starter." I say.
"I understand, Blaze, I'm special too."
A/N: Shorter than normal for me, but then the first chapter is always awkward so I'd say we were off to a good start. This chapter/prologue was written by Zoetheminnowgirl.
