"Keep it down Marius!!" Enjolras hissed, pressing his back to the corridor wall, just out of sight of the hall monitor.

Marius followed suite, trying to block out all thought of Cosette as he pulled out his small pistol. "I'm trying..." Marius whispered back.

Enjolras said they would not rebel until their Senior Year. To unsure that they wouldn't be tempted... Marius slid out the chamber to find two more long range shots, they could only knock out a human target from far away...but still useful.

Marius clicked the chamber back into place with a sigh, wishing he had brought extra short range firecrackers. Fireworks...instead of bullets.

Enjolras assumed the coast was clear, then turned a corner and tripped a girl on accident. He yelped in surprise as books flew, and pencils spilled, the student herself was sent sprawling.

Enjolras immediately dropped to his knees beside her and began collecting the books. Marius came to his knees beside him and began collecting the pencils.

She hissed in pain as she tried to reach for her hat that had landed cruelly on the edge of the drinking fountain.

Enjolras kindly retrieved it and put it gently back on her head. She softly gasped in anticipation for a strike, it was soft enough to be inaudible, not justifying why she winced.

"So sorry about that, " he said apologetically, as he helped her to her feet, gently favoring what he supposed to be a broken arm from the way it was bandaged, " a comrade of mine that answers to the name Grantaire appears to be missing....you didn't happen to come across him did you?"

The student quickly shook her dark haired head. Ash and smudges of dirt marred her face and clothes but she still possessed a rouge, roughened beauty. Her eyes were wide, and she was trembling.

Hoping to assure her that he was wasn't going to harm her he bent into a deep bow, coming up with a warm, genuine smile. "My most sincere apologies...," His smile softened and he extended his hand as a token of kinship, "I am Enjolras."

The girl took it and shook it slowly, perhaps cautiously. Once realizing that he wasn't going to hurt her, she relaxed and smiled sweetly. "I'm Eponine." The smile she wore lit a small fire in her eyes...it was a kindle of hope.

Enjolras raised her hand to his lips and placed a gentle, precise, courteous kiss. "Pleased to meet you Eponine." He said in a voice that wove a powerful enchantment.

Eponine blushed. "The same to you." She replied.
