Chapter 1: (Evelyn's POV)
"Evie, wake up, it's the first day of school come on!"
I hear my best friend since we were 11, Valerie call. I can already tell by the thunderous sounds coming from my stair case she is almost to the top. Surprisingly enough, instead of ripping the blankets away immediately, she sits down next to me while I lie in bed.
"Who even let you in this early?" I question Valerie, giving her a dirty look.
Let's just say: mornings aren't my thing. Never have been, never will be. After being left unnoticed for the other three years of my high school career, I was ready to be the girl everyone looked at in the hallway, and not because there was some rumors being spread about me.
"I let myself in silly, you always seem to forget I have a key! By the way your mom and dad just left for work, they told me to tell you to have a good first day and they love you!" Valerie chirps happily. "But seriously, its time to get up, you need to get ready! We want to be super stars this year, not look like homeless grandpas who just rolled out of the garbage bin." I give her a light laugh, and finally take a closer look at her. Valerie was gorgeous. I'd never quite understand how she didn't fit in with the populars, considering she had long black hair that cascaded down her back and perfect, clear tan skin. Bright blue eyes and a perfect smile, she had guys falling over her every second she walked down the halls of Palm Bridge High. Today she wore light wash denim shorts with a black band tank that made her look great. Quickly, I hopped out of bed and ran to the bathroom that was located in my room. In about 45 minutes I was ready to go. We rushed downstairs and out the front door, with about 15 minutes to get to school.
"Val, are we taking my car or yours?"
"Mine, we don't have time for you to get your keys, by the way, you look hot." she grinned at me and whistled.
I was wearing a peach strapless dress with a cream cardigan to cover, and cream flats to match. My dirty blonde hair was curled down the middle of my back. Again, I laughed and gave her a playful slap on the arm, while she went around to hop into the passenger seat of her Audi. Soon enough, we arrived at Palm Bridge High, located in Miami, Florida. Valerie and I arrived at school, walking through the wide school parking lot with the soft, yet warm morning sun shining down on us.
"Evelyn, Valerie, over here!" Jacob, our other best friend calls over to us from a wooden bench placed in front of the school.
"Hey Jacob, what's going on?" Valerie questions as she sits down next to him on the bench, leaving me standing alone next to them.
"The usual, waiting for you two to finally arrive." he laughs. Jacob is quite the handsome guy, with not-too-long brown hair, piercing green eyes and a charming smile that could convince the Devil himself to sin.
"You really need guy friends Jacob!" I tease, ruffling my hand through his hair. He swats my hand away and I receive the typical death glare from whenever I touch "the hair". With a loud ring, the bell rings announcing it is time for the first day of senior year to commence. But before we walk into school, I notice a group of three boys I'd never seen before at Palm Bridge arrive. They seemed around my age, and extremely attractive too. Who could they be I wondered?
