It was just like any other day in IIMT, mindless study and the never-ending cycle of battles. It's like playing league, endless grinding, with the prospect of climbing to the top nowhere in sight...

Life sucks.

Arbre sighed.

Being a mageling is tiring, as their kind stand on the border of both humans and elementals, often receiving rejection from both sides. In Arbre's case however, being able to cast magic, and studying computer engineering at the same time. His work denied him even the time to think about his social life, but it mattered little to him. Since he already decided to dedicate most of his life to work, the moment he could talk. But the subject that tormented him most of all wasn't race, it wasn't social life; it was liner algebra.

Yes, liner algebra. The puzzle of the devil.

Whoever came up with such elaborate and intellectual method of torture must have been a genius or psychopath, or both.

Arbre pulled his hair in frustration at the thought, and the moment he lowered his head, his whole body ran into something soft and was knocked to the ground. Fazed, Arbre looked up and saw a giant round bird, black on the side and white in the center. His mind went to Pingu's immediately, large buoyant bird that are incapable of flight, and are only semi-decent swimmers.

What is a pingu doing inside the campus? Where they not locked up properly in the animal center?

"Gabu." The pingu said, or squawked.

I don't have time for this dumb bird...

Arbre thought as he dusted himself and got up, and by the time he stood up on his feet again, the found the pingu staring at him, no intent, just simply staring what so ever.

I wonder what do animals think in those times...

Just as Arbre held that thought, the pingu made an unexpected move by quickly closing in the gap and stuffing him in a massive hug.

The hug lasted for several moments, before the pingu finally let go, then it shuffled side ways and went on it's way.

Why?...

As Arbre was left and hanging there, a small realization began to sprout in the back of his mind:

As sentient beings, sometimes we really overthink things...

GOOD END
