Birthday countdown: 2 daysEvery new day was becoming more normal for Adrianna. School was getting so much better and after that whole incident with Rusty, no one dares to make a comment about what happened to her. Straight after school, she headed to the mall with her mom and her sisters. They made a few stops along the way to pick up little things for the party. The first of many stores they visited in the mall was Forever 21. There were so many dresses that were nice but none really caught Adrianna's eye. She already knew what kind of dress she wanted but she wasn't so sure about her mothers reaction. At the next two stores, they had no luck.
"Let's go to one more store please! I know the dress I'm looking for is here." Adrianna pleaded. They went to one more store and just like that she found the dress. It was maroon, strapless, and it had lace design all over it. Adrianna gasped and looked at her mother straight away. She knew the length and the fact that it was strapless would not sit well with her mom but she really wanted this dress.
"Try it on." Her mom said, skeptical.
The dress fit perfectly and Adrianna fell in love with it.
"She looks great, doesn't she mom?" Diana questioned her mother.
"Yes, she looks beautiful. But I'm not sure that is appropriate for a twelve year old." The mother stated.
"Come on! She'll be thirteen when she wears it on Saturday. It's almost her birthday, let her have it." Alexandra pointed out the obvious.
"Fine, you can get the dress. But you have to wear a pair of shorts under it!" Their mom negotiated.
"Deal!" Adrianna yelled in excitement.
After they paid for the dress it wasn't hard to find shoes and accessories that go with it. Everything was coming along nicely. They found everything thing they needed for a picture perfect party. They picked up about three Polaroid cameras so the guest could take their own pictures too.

When they got home, the girls father was on the couch watching the sports channel."Hey hey, what's all of this?" He says in a playful way.
"Just some things for the party. And Adri finally got her dream dress." Alexandra told him.
Adrianna's heart started to race. She used to get called Adri in her old life, never in this one. When she heard Alexandra say it, it made her think of the person who always called her that. She couldn't remember his name but she did remember his face. It was Thomas but of course she didn't know that. Most of her memories have faded away.
"Show me what you got Adrianna." Her dad says to her.
"Okay, but let me try on the dress. It's amazing." She said as she ran to the bathroom to put the dress on.
"Put on the shoes and jewelry too, so we can see if we need to take anything back!" Her mom called out to her.
Adrianna carefully took the dress out of the bag. She put it on and everything that they bought to go along with the dress was perfect. She went back into the living room to show her dad the dress and all eyes were on her. She really did look beautiful in the dress and she felt like a princess.
"My little nugget is not so little anymore." Her dad said to her, making her smile.
They went over the final details of the party and Adrianna took off the dress. She went up to her room to start her homework. Diana was watching tv but the noise didn't bother Adrianna.
"So I know what friends are coming to the party, but do you know if any relatives are coming?" She asks Diana hesitantly.
"A lot! Aunts, uncles, cousins, and grandparents from both sides. The party is going to be huge." Diana's words made Adrianna's stomach turn.
"Oh no! They're all coming? I have no idea who any of those people are! They're probably going to think I'm a weirdo, especially since I changed my name." She felt nauseous so she decided to lay back on her bed.
"Don't worry little sis, mom already told them about the accident and the "memory loss" and they know that your name isn't Denise anymore. It'll be fine." Diana tries to calm Adrianna down and it worked.
"There are many positives to having a whole bunch of family at the party." Diana continued, "You'll meet family that loves you a lot and they'll shower you in gifts. Remember it's not about the gifts though, enjoy their company because we don't see a lot of them often." Diana told her.
"Got it!" Adrianna confirmed.
She finished her homework in a short amount of time. For the rest of the night she visualized what her party would be like. She wanted her birthday to be a happy day. No drama, no sadness, and no anger. She felt good about the decision to uninvite Rusty and his group of rude friends. If they were to come to the party, they would just criticized everything and make fun of her the whole time. That's not what she wanted her first birthday as Adrianna Green to be like. It was her special day, she believed it was a special day for all of her family because it's their first special occasion since Adrianna got out of the hospital. She laid in her bed trying to fall asleep. While staring at the walls she smiled because of how grateful she was for everything new that was happening to her.
