My name is Lucas, and I have a major crush on a girl in my village. Well, she isn't really in my village, she's royalty. She's the princess. I hated the way she was so selfish and mean, but I loved how she was really nice on the inside, I knew she was. I'm only a village kid, well, teenager, being eighteen.
I stare at the Palace. I knew she was in there. Everyone loves her, and I just can't seem to ever be able to talk to her. I admire her beauty, and her secret personality. My friend Rebecca told me she'll try to find a way to hook us up, I hope she goes through with that. She's friends with the princess, and oh man do I envy her for it.
Everything was fine, until Rebecca got sick. She was so ill, that when I went to her home in the woods, she was laying in bed.
I quickly rush over to her, tears forming in my eyes. I kneel down to her side, and she smiles. "I promised you. I'll fulfill it." She mumbles to me, her voice weak.
"No, you don't have to anymore, just be okay. Promise me you'll be okay.." The tears I had were now streaming down my cheeks. She takes my hand and places it on her cheek. It was so cold, and I hated it. It only meant she was so sick.
"I can't-" She coughs loudly, coving her mouth with her free arm. "Promise that. But I'll go on with that promise I made to you three years ago.." Rebecca kept saying. I shook my head.
The door burst open, the princess was in an outfit so elegant, the red and gold colors mixing perfectly. He long brown hair flows in the wind as she walks over quickly to Rebecca. She takes her other hand and begins to mumble something to her. Rebecca mumbles back.
Rebecca looks at me, smiles, then takes a deep breath. "I believe in you, I'll always be there. In your heart. No matter where I go." And with that, she was gone. She died.
"NO! REBECCA!" I scream, my short but shaggy blonde hair coving my face as I rest my head onto her shoulder. "Don't be gone, don't be gone.." I kept repeating. I felt a hand on my back, the Princess.
"Lucas, you need to get over it." She says sternly. My only thought was, how did she know my name?
"H-how do you know my name?" I managed to choke out between my sobs.
"She told me a lot about you." She answered. The princess, knew about me.
A year later, I've been trying to convince the princess, her name is Liv, to donate some of her clothing to the other village kids. She didn't want to, even though the clothes didn't fit her anymore. "Come on, you don't even fit them, it'll be for the best!" I continue to try.
"It's mine though, I had it made for ME!" She holds onto her many pairs of dresses.
"It'll be the right thing to do." I told her. She looks down, then hands me the dresses. I smile.
Another year later, she's learned to open her heart. She's been sharing secrets with me about her life, which I love because I know she's able to trust me. I no longer live as a worker, I live in the palace, as her mother, the queen, offered.
That's when I decided to do it. Her and I were doing out afternoon stole in the giant flower garden. I stop her right next to the bushes of roses. I get on one knee, take her hand, and smile.
"Liv, you've been there for me. Always, ever since Rebecca. Will you marry me?" My face was heated. She covered her mouth, tears streaming. Oh no, I already knew the answer and I was about to cry myself.
She nods her head. I smile, joy overcoming me. I stand up quickly, grabbing her waist, lifting her off the ground and twirling her.
This is all thanks to Rebecca.
