Three slices of pizza down, and two glasses of water later, I had to use the bathroom. I made my way upstairs and into the bathroom. After doing my business my phone buzzed.
From Beth: sorry, don't come home tonight. Your stuff is packed, you have to move out.
I tilted my head back and groaned. I had no place to stay at after my mother died, except for Beth's. her parents think we are still best friends, and we always will be, but tough luck we aren't. For the past two months Beth and I never once talked unless her parents were around. That included family dinners, game night, going out in public, and whatever else they decide to do.
Sometimes I felt as if Beth and I could be friends again, but deep down apart of me know we could never be friends again.
Someone knocked on the bathroom door, causing me to jump and little. I slid my phone back into my back pocket before unlocking the door.
"Hey sor-" I bumped right into a chest. I looked up at someone I have never seen before. But his blue eyes pieced into my soul it felt like, and his chocolate hair flopped to one side. A smirk crept his way onto his lips, as he kept my gaze.
"Who are you? May I ask?" His deep voice boomed through my ears.
"Casey. Who are you?"
"Jack. I'm Ryder's cousin."
"Well I was just-" He cut me off.
"Ryder said a pretty girl was up here. I didn't believe him though. Had to come see for myself." He winked at me.
"What do you want?" I crossed my arms.
"The bathroom." He laughed.
"Why are you laughing?" Then I heard it. Two other guy laughs coming a few feet away down the hall. I peered out of the hall and saw Ryder and Mason standing there clutching their stomachs on the ground laughing.
"You two are seriously in for it." I pushed Jack away and went down stairs. His mom tried calling for me, but I ignored her and left his house. I started walking. To where? I'm not sure. I have no place to go home to. I have no place I can stay at. And I'm surly not staying here tonight.
"Casey wait up!" I stopped in my tracks and turned around to see Mason chasing me.
"What Mason." My voice was stern. He stopped in front of me, and just looked at me.
"I'm sorry. It wasn't my idea. His cousin came in and he had to go to the bathroom. But Ryder remembered you were there, so he thought pulling a prank would be fun. I'm sorry you got mad." He put his head down.
"It's not that I'm mad, well I am. But I don't even know this person. I was scared he was going to make a move on me. That's all."
"He's a good guy Casey. I've met him a couple times before. He isn't like that. I promise."
"I've had promises broken to me before."
"Never by me."
"Never said you." He huffed.
"Made it sound like that though."
"Didn't mean to." I shrugged.
I turned around and began walking again, I heard Mason start to jog up to me, he grabbed my hand, and pulled me to a stop. As he did, his fingers interlaced with mine. My heart jumped and started beating fast.
"What Mason?" I yelled. He jumped at my tone of voice and scrunched down a little. He also let go of my hand, and backed up a little.
"Nothing, bye." He turned around and started walking. Back to Ryder's house. He shook his head, before rubbing his fingers through his hair. I felt a little bad for raising my voice at him, but I just want to be alone right now.
