Chapter 3
I finally slept in and actually felt like I had enough sleep. I got dressed in comfortable yoga pants and a sweater. I opened my bedroom door and went down the stairs. Nobody was in the living room or the kitchen. I checked the dining room and saw my dad sitting at the table eating toast.
'Hey honey. You're up early' my dad looked at the clock. I also checked the clock and saw it indeed was earlier than usual. 9:30.
'I went to bed early. That's probably why' I smiled and put two slices of bread In the toaster.
'Linda and Josh already left an hour ago. Don't ask me where they went because I have no clue' my dad told me.
'And mom?'
'Still asleep'
'Ahh ok'
When my toast was done I grabbed them and put them on my plate. I sat down at the table across from my dad. My dad was actually the only one I could cope a little bit.
'How's school?' my dad asked.
'Better than before'
'Can you handle tennis and school at the same time?'
'It's hard, but I will be fine.'
'If you can't, you know you can tell me anything right?' My dad says and kisses me on my forehead.
'Thanks dad.'
My dad walks out of the room and heads upstairs to porbably do some work. I wonder what Josh and Linda are doing. Josh is probably sucking Linda her ass while Linda looks at herself in a mirror.
I go upstairs to my room and open my laptop to do some school projects. I still have to finish two essays. While typing away at my keyboard all I can think about is Josh and his weird behaviour at the dinner table yesterday. We missed each other, but I thought that he wanted to.
Downstairs I can hear the front door open and my sister yelling like the witch that she is. I love drama so I immediately go downstairs to check it out. Linda is yelling at Josh about some couch that she wants, but he doesn't like it. This is so typical of my sister. Poor Josh. Linda drops the groceries on the ground and runs upstairs in fury. I look over at Josh, who is staring at the apples and lettuce that fell out of the bag.
'Need some help?' I ask.
Josh looks up at me standing on the stairs. His face lights up, which makes me feel better about what he did yesterday.
'I could use some help.' Josh laughs.
I walk towards the mess on the floor and grab the apples and lettuce while Josh grabs the bag. I put the apples in the fruit bowl and the lettuce in our refrigerator. Josh empties the groceries. I sit down and watch him unpack. He sees me staring. His face drops and he most likely realises he had some explaining to do.
'Look. I'm sorry about last night. After what happened, I felt confused, betrayed, filthy.' He says standing on the opposite side of the table.
'I understand. It should not have happened. It's my fault.'
Josh starts to frown and slowly walks towards me. He puts his hand on my shoulder. I can feel his breath.
'We're equally as guilty.' Josh whispers and strokes my cheek with his thumb.
Just then we can hear loud footsteps coming down the stair. Linda is coming. Josh gets himself together and walks away from me.
'Josh. I'm sorry I yelled about that stupid couch.' Linda apologizes and gives Josh a peck on his lips.
