Chapter 2

The next morning, on Saturday, I had to wake up early for tennis practice. I tied my hair up in a ponytail and applied just some mascara and a little bit of lip-gloss. I yawned and walked downstairs fully dressed in my tennis outfit with my sports bag in my hand. I saw my mom sitting on the couch.

'Morning' my mom greeted me reading the newspaper.

'You're up early' I stated grabbing a sandwich and putting it into my bag for later.

'Yeah I'm meeting some clients in a few minutes' my mom took a sip of her coffee and placed it down on the coffee table.

'Oh. How do I get to the tennis court if you can't drive me?' I asked my mom confused.

Just then I heard a door shut behind me. I turned around and saw Josh wearing all white holding a bag with a racket in it.

'Josh can take you. He also plays tennis. Maybe you can learn something from a pro' my mom smiled.

'Ready to smack some balls Haley?' He smiled and took my bag from me.

Josh was tanned and muscular in the tennis outfit. I blushed just thinking about him. 'Yeah' I answered nervously.

I wanted to smack myself in the head instead of balls. Why do I keep checking Josh out. Why do I keep blushing each time he makes a joke and smiles. I can't think about him. I'm starting to like him. He's my sister's boyfriend and maybe even soon to be husband. Plus he's like 10 years older than me.

'Have fun' my mom said to us both.

'Thanks Catherine' Josh thanked my mom. It's weird hearing someone say your mother her actual name. 'Come on, let's go' Josh signed for me to follow him.

I waved my mom goodbye and followed Josh to his car. I sat down in the passenger's seat. We drove to the tennis court, which wasn't that far away, luckily. A long drive would be pretty awkard.

'So Haley, tell me a bit about yourself' he asked friendly spinning the steering wheel to go left.

'Well, I'm competitive, I work hard and I get what I want'

'I'll remember that' he smiled.

'What about you?' I asked him.

'I love sports, I'm easily persuaded and I hate it when people don't close their mouths when they eat' he replied.

'That's pretty specific and random' I laughed.

'Well I'm pretty specific and random. Can get boring sometimes' He replied smiling.

'I don't think it's boring' I said with a serious tone to my voice. His smile widened.

'Then you're a first'

'I think it's funny when people are random'

'Well your sister finds it pretty annoying when I'm random and don't take things as serious as she does sometimes'

'She can be a pain in the ass sometimes'

'Sometimes?' he laughed sarcastically.

He parked the car. 'We're here' he smiled. I returned a smile and tied my hair in a bun.

I froze when I saw Josh looking me deeply in the eyes. His hand reached for my face. He grabbed my loose strand of hair and tucked it behind my ear. I got myself together because he was getting really close and I think he was about to lean in and kiss me. I stepped out of the car and grabbed my bag. I knew where to go and walked away from the car without him. I needed a few seconds to think straight. I put my bag in my locker and grabbed my racket. Ready for a game of tennis.
