CHAPTER 5 – A BRIGHT BEGINNING

3 YEARS LATER

Lucas

“Papa!” my three year old princess squealed as she runs towards me and engulfed me into a tight hug, “Look!” she put her small hand out to me to show a purple butterfly resting on top of her palm.

“Where did you get that princess?” I playfully asked her as I look at butterfly in her hand.

She gave me a toothy grin with her baby teeth showing, I smiled at how her smile resembles my Caroline’s and I just can’t help but smile back at my little princess.

Using her free hand she pointed towards the woods and with that my father mode instantly came.

“What did I tell you about going by yourself alone?” I asked her with my strict father tone but I knew I can never be mad with my cute little princess.

“But… there was a boy there!” she wailed in her baby voice while innocently batting her eyes at me and just like that I easily forgave her.

I let out a sigh and tried hard to put my strict face on but failed.

Ever since that day when Caroline’s heartbeat stopped and our baby’s heart weakly beating made my time stopped.

Just like that… the sound of her heart beat stopped and in that moment my time stopped… it was hard at first… it felt like my whole world shattered in that single moment but the moment my baby girl’s eyes met mine it slowly healed the scar that was imprinted in my heart.

Losing a mate is like losing everything.

So painful… and so lonely at the same time…

“Raine!” I heard my sister Alexis yelled frantically behind me and instantly my daughter hid behind me.

“Do you have any idea how worried I was? Wait until your mom hears about this!” she playfully threatened and that made my little princess showed those big puppy eyes that always get into everybody… that is except for someone…

“Come on, you have to put your dress on and you mister have to get inside to get ready!” my sister ordered as she took my little princess with her and headed off to somewhere and me, I went inside and waited.

I waited for the person whom I waited for a long time.

I started to get impatient, my palms were starting to get sweaty and my heart beat starts beating erratically!

Everyone started piling in, everything was in placed like how I have been planning for a long time and the only thing that was missing was the main character.

I tried to calm myself down but as soon as I got it to beat normally it started rising again as the wedding march started playing and the door opened.

I slowly turned around and the saw her beautifully dressed in white and just like that, my time that stopped, started to flow again.
