CHAPTER 3 – A PRICE TO PAY

The preparation for the big has been going well so far, the arrangement is nearly done and then all there’s left it to be in the picture.

I grinned at my hard work and can’t wait to see Caroline’s face when she sees everything.

I placed my paper work on my table and rested my head back onto my leather chair as I think about my mate and what I should do with her.

I know I shouldn’t be thinking naughty things about her but damn, even though her stomach is now big she still look as beautiful like the first time she stepped into my class room that day.

I can still clearly remember everything, how my touch simply had so much effect on her, how she moans from pleasure every time my skin comes contact with her—damn it, now I need another cold shower because Lucas junior down there is coming out.

My mind continues to drift to my mate when suddenly there was a knock on my door.

I told them to come in and the door opens leaving me to stand up from my unexpected guests.

I found myself bowing to them as I wondered why they were here.

“May I know why you have come here?” I politely asked as they made themselves sit down and so did I.

“Sorry for not giving out an early notice Alpha Lucas,” the man with brown hair but you can see the grey hairs dominating his brown hair.

“As a protector and father of the weres, I have received a news that the current human vessel of the red wolf is bearing a child, I suggests you know what this means,” the same man said and the rest just looked at me.

“We have been living here in harmony with the presence of my mate, there haven’t been any dangers and there haven’t been sighting of rouges and hunters,” I informed them as I try not to disrespect them, I mean they are the elders after all.

“It seems so, but you should know what would happen if that child is born, since it seems that we have no idea if the red wolf’s spirit is still here on in your mate’s body we cannot have the risk of having its spirit being passed down once again, you know that every time a red wolf’s spirit move to a much younger vessel their power becomes greater therefore it would be a threat to us and to the humans, since you are one of the most powerful alphas we both know that there will be a war if we take your mate so we have come here to help you make a decision, you should have known that this day would come, I hoped you are prepared to make the right decision.” The elder said as I let their words sunk into me, the day I was wishing and praying to never come has finally come.

Everything was going so well, why can’t we just have a happy ending?

Why must they come and take something precious from me?

“You have until the sun rises tomorrow to make a decision and if you haven’t made one yet we will have to make it,” the elder said as I watch him get up, I too got up and politely bowed to them to show respect.

I watch as they were about to leave when the elder turned around and looked at me. He gestured the rest to leave and a boy was waiting behind him as he close the door.

“Oh, I almost forgot, meet Hunter,” he said as he gestured a boy towards me that looked about 5 to 10 years old with jet black hair and dark eyes that looked too dangerous for a young boy to have, “Hunter this is Alpha Lucas, the father of the child you will be looking out for from now on,” he continued as I looked at the boy and with my father instinct surfacing even though my child hasn’t been born yet I knew that this boy is bad news.
