Sam ran to Jake, found his phone, and called Sarah. Then, she ripped off his shirt, and used it for a tourniquet, tying it tightly, so that the bleeding would stop. Then, realizing there was nothing else she could do, she paced around the room, derinding herself for what she could have done. At one point, she got so mad she started beating the dead carcass of an animal with the low-glowing sword. She didn't know what it meant, and she didn't care. She just wanted to destroy what had killed Jake. suddenly, six huge figures came crashing through the window, and she turned and swung on instinct. Luke's blade met hers easily. She dropped it and began to cry on him.

Sarah went over to Jake while EJ and LJ stood watch. Jim and Mike immediately started to drag the carcasses away and flew off, each with one in each hand. Sam became jealous again when Sarah kissed Jake, and it took all her self-control not to hit her. Sarah went over to the big breifcase that ehld the vials of chemicals he took to "boost" himself, and poured it down his throat. Nothing happened.

"Well," Luke said pointing to Jake's sword. "At least he's still alive...currently." They all watched in silent horror as the faint red glow disappeared, leaving behind a handle.

Sam was done. She was broken, and she didn't have anybody who understood. She had been broken before, but then, her friends had healed her. But nothing was as bad as this. She didn't want to live anymore. She had no reason to. Her father didn't care about her, her sister was dead, her mother was off somewhere mutating humans, and now, Jake was gone. She couldn't bear the pain. She pushed herself away from Luke, and ran toward the shattered, empty window. She took one step and leaped over the balcony.

LJ was right behind her. He ran at quarter-speed, and waited for her to jump over the railing. He counted to two before catching her, just so she got the sensation of dying. He landed ever so lightly, and made Sam open her eyes before darting through stone and wood to her apartment.

Jake sat up, gasping the second Sam's body was out of sight. He didn't notice her absence, and Sarah hoped he wouldn't until LJ returned with her. "How are you feeling?" she asked him. He just shook his head. she put her hands on his head for a minute, then asked again.

"Better. MUCH better. Thank you. He looked around, and his eyes widened. "Where's Sam?" He asked, worriedly. LJ came up through the floor  cradling a very shaken Sam in his arms. He walked over to Jake, and stood her up. Jake rose to meet her.

Sam saw Jake get up, but wasn't sure if she was dreaming or not. She didn't want to be dreaming, but she might be. Jake walked forward, and asked her if she was alright. She didn't say anything. Instead, she pressed  her hand against his hard chest, and pushed. Nothing happened, and she smiled. Sam gazed once again into Jake's warm eyes and felt at peace.

"Are you okay, Samantha?" He asked calmly, not wanting to frighten her more.

For a second, she hesitated, then surrendered her lips to his. Heat ran through her body, and she pressed harder, her arms squeezing his back. She felt his hand on her cheek, and became all the more needy, pulling him into her world where he was the center of it; here he was her sun. Jake's tongue slid through her teeth, and she met his with hers, pressing hard and not giving in. After what seemed liked years, he let go, and she was back on Earth. Jake smiled warmly.

"I am now," she said. "I am now." Jake's smile widened as he looked around, seeing all six of his comrades. Then, a red flag went up as he counted six again.

"Who's protecting Charde?" He asked.

And that's when the alarm went off in their minds.
