Thomas Jefferson and Alexander Hamilton.
Just those words gave people thoughts of their hatred. Ever since freshman year, 9th grade, they loathed each other.
*flashback to 9th grade*
The bell rang loudly throughout the school, signaling for students to dismiss to the bus ramp. Alexander saw his friends and peers heading towards the buses while he walked the other direction, towards the debate room. He had been on the debate team since he came to this school.
He walked into the room and was greeted by his favorite teacher, Mr. Washington, he was the one who led the team.
As Alexander walked towards his usual seat he had noticed someone sitting there. Someone with curly, dark hair. A slight stubble was planted along the edge of his chin.
"Pardon me, this is my seat" Alexander said with slight attitude in his voice.
"Mmm, feisty." The curly haired boy said.
"That's my seat." Alexander said with even more attitude than before.
Curly Hair leaned toward the boy next to him, James Madison.
"Jemmy, my boy, who...or what is this?" Thomas whispered, obviously loud enough for Alexander to hear, while pointing towards him.
Alexander scoffed and James whispered something to Curly Hair.
Curly Hair sat back up and stared at Alexander. His eyes like beaming hot lasers.
"Well Alexander, I don't see your name anywhere on this seat, so I'd appreciate it if you could move out of my way, I can't see the board."
Alexander didn't say anything, he just death stared him and walked away towards his friends...well, friend-ish person.
"Aaron! You will not believe what that new kid just did!" Alexander said as he slammed his books on the table.
"Alexander, please. He's not that bad." Aaron said calmly. Aaron Burr, that is.
"Not that bad? He's horrible, he took my seat! My seat!"
"It's a seat, Alexander."
"Still!"
As more students came into the room, people began quieting down. Mr. Washington clapped his hands loudly for everyone's attention.
"Everyone, I would like you to welcome our new student and debate team member, Thomas Jefferson." Mr. Washington pointed towards Curly Hair.
Some people waved, one kid yelled "Sup, man!", and others just said hi, but not Alexander. Alexander sat with his arms crossed, like a child that got put in time out. He didn't like this Thomas kid.
As the debate team meeting went on, Alexander's hatred for Thomas grew and grew. Thomas knew what he was doing, he was annoying Alexander. As you may be able to tell, this hatred was mutual. Thomas would try his best to overthrow Alexander's spot as "favorite student".
He was even in 3 of Alexander's classes. They fought in the hallway, gotten called to the principal's and AND gotten detention multiple times because of each other. If you look under lunch tables and desks, you won't see any gum because they had to scrape it off when they got into trouble.
*end of flashback*
This wasn't a huge story, but it was how they met. Throughout high school, the two despised each other. Everything was a competition. They enjoyed making each other's lives horrible, but
there's been multiple times when Thomas has tried to make things right between them, but Alexander wouldn't let that happen, he'd always hate him, and that's just how it worked.
Enemies.
When highschool ended, they both had their mind set on one college and one college in particular.
King's College, baby!
That's all Alexander talked about and, Thomas thought about, in high school. Alex worked nonstop, day and night, to make sure he got accepted. Thomas made sure to do plenty of law involved activities and various volunteering work to include in his application. Some students have dreamed of going there, due to their huge amount of subjects taught, but it has a small acceptance rate, 6% to be exact, so you would have to have some of the best grades and behavior. They both got accepted, along with James Madison and Aaron Burr. It's just that, Alexander didn't know that. Nor did any of the four, really. Thomas and James knew they were going to the same college, Aaron doesn't exactly hang out with any of them, and Alexander didn't bother asking where they were going. He didn't care.
But he would sooner or later.
