Alexander's POV
Yes! Just thinking about how I'm going to King's College makes my chest tighten. I can finally get away from my high school mess. Then again, I think about how I'm getting a dorm and imagine who I'll be roomed with. What if it's with someone a don't like.
I need to chill out.
I walk into the Newton Hall, or apartment building, with my suitcase and bag. I quickly skimmed the room, it's a habit, and made my way towards the desk where there was a lady typing quickly on her keyboard. I stood for a couple seconds but I hadn't seen to catch her attention, so fake coughed to let her know I was here. She stopped and jolted her head up.
"Oh, I'm so sorry, It's been crazy busy today, I didn't even hear you walk up." She said, apologetically.
"It's fine. Why is it so busy?"
"So much people are coming to get into their dorms lately since college is about to start...that must be why you are here, huh?"
I nodded, "How could you tell?" That was a dumb question to ask.
"Well for one, you're on campus," she laughed, "What's your name?"
"Alexander Hamilton."
She looked down at her computer screen and began typing, scrolling, and clicking, then stopped.
"Ah-ha, you're in room 307." She said while turning around in her swivel chair. She grabbed a key, then turned back around.
"Here's your room key. You'll be sharing your room with 2 other people." She said as she handed me my key.
"Do you happen to know who I'll be sharing with?" I asked impatiently. I was slowly getting even more worried about who I'd be sharing with.
"I would love to tell you but there's a couple people waiting behind you and I would like to get my work done for today, you understand." She said politely, seemed like she was indirectly trying to get me to leave.
I nodded and gripped my room key in one hand, with my suitcase in the other and my bag over my shoulder. I began walking towards the hallway and saw a flight of stairs and an elevator. I took the elevator, of course. As I was about to push the button labeled "3" I heard a feminine voice that sounded as if it was directed towards me.
"Hold the elevator, please!" A lady said as she sped walked into the elevator.
She sighed, "Thanks, I thought it would be faster if I just hopped into the elevator with you, yano?" She said as she started straightening her shirt and pushed the button labeled "4".
She had brown wavy hair, a leather jacket, a plain red shirt, black jeans, and black heels..or combat boots? I couldn't tell they were heels but you could tie them? I don't understand female clothing. She had vibrant red lips and was holding a red suitcase with her black purse over her shoulder. I have to admit, she was gorgeous.
"Yeah, like carpooling but with...elevators?" I said awkwardly. I was trying to be relatable but I don't think it worked.
She laughed and pulled her hair behind her ear, out of her face, then held out her hand. "I'm Maria."
"Alexander." I said as I took her hand and shook it.
"What's your room number?" She asked, leaning towards me trying to see my key.
"307, what about you?"
"418."
I nodded. She seemed to be the same age as me, and maybe we'll have the same classes, plus, she doesn't seem like she doesn't like me, so maybe we're friends? As she mu-stop jumping to conclusions Alex.
