Brian's pov

I walked into the house to smell the smell of marshmallows roasting "hello anyone home" I walked upstairs and looked in Tina's room so was asleep trying to get better with Alex in a chair also asleep "Alex buddy wake up"

He slowly woke up "daddy" "where is your mom" "he was cooking dinner I think" "ok you can go back to sleep now" "ok daddy" I watched him slowly fall asleep "big brother is always watching out for you Tina"

I walked down to mine and Toby's room and opened the door to see Toby asleep on the bed a quickly turned my head when I heard the smoke alarm go off

"Toby get up" "leave me alone I'm trying to sleep here" "the smoke detector is going off" "is that what that is?" "Yes now go to the kids I'm going to find out what's in fire"

I walked downstairs to see the kitchen on fire "TOBY GET THE KIDS OUTSIDE THE KITCHEN IS ON FIRE" I turned and watched Toby jogging down the stairs holding Tina and Alex in front of him I ran to the front door and opened it and Toby and Tina went outside

"Waa" I turned to see Alex standing at the bottom of the stairs "what's wrong Alex come on" "zach I don't know where he is" "go outside I will look for him where did you see him last" "in my room playing with music playing" "ok now go outside Alex"

I ran towards Alex to grab him but a beam fell down everything was in slow motion the beam fell on Alex's back as he slowly ran towards the door the beam made Alex fall to the ground Alex gave a loud scream

"Don't worry Alex" I quickly slipped my gloves on and grabbed the beam slowly lifting it off Alex's back out of no where Toby ran past and up the stairs then came down holding Zach who was passed out

"Toby Alex I'm not leaving him" "I will be right back"I watched Toby run outside and laid Zach on the grass next to Tina who was probably on the phone with 911.....I hope I was losing my grip more wood was falling and I had to cover Alex so nothing would hit him

"D-daddy my chest it hurts" "shhh just try to hold on don't breath the smoke in" I lost my grip and the beam fell on Alex who gave another scream but this time it was full of pain coughing from the smoke that was filling the house

"I'm sorry Alex but I'm going to pull you out form under the beam" I grabbed Alex's arms and wiggled him out from under the burning beam that was on his back

"You ok" "I hope so daddy" I started to walk to the door but another beam fell in front of the door blocking me from getting my son to safely the only way out was the back door or the windows

"Daddy" "hold on Alex we will get out alive just hold on" i bolted up the stairs and ran to a window and laid Alex on the roof where he took a gasp of the fresh air I climbed out the window and coughed trying to get the smoke out of my lungs

"Brain,Alex are you ok" "we will be Alex has really bad burns but that's about it" a firefighter climbed up and took Alex who hissed in pain then climbed down I slowly got on the ladder and climbed down and run behind the firefighter who had my son I didn't care that people were trying to stop me to look me over

I jumped into the back of the ambulance with Alex in it "don't worry buddy everything will be ok just hold on" "umm sir who are you to the boy" "I'm his step father" "ok just making sure before we left for the hospital" "it's fine can we just make sure that Alex is ok"
