We flew over a big, green park, right in the city centre, before landing outside a building with a glass dome atop it. People froze, staring at us, as cars went crazy, the quinjet blocking the road. Sirens roared, before army trucks rolled up to meet us.

‘Everyone needs to clear the streets. Any shops on Grafton Street with basements are to fit as many people as possible into it. We have to work together and get everyone off the streets as soon as possible.’ A voice called out through a megaphone on one of the trucks, as men kitted out in military gear climbed out, and started to usher people towards the stores.

We climbed out of the quinjet, as a man in a beret with a badge stepped out of one of the trucks and walked over to us. He walked straight up to Steve, and held out his hand, which Steve shook.

‘Captain Rodgers? General O’ Connor. SHIELD said you’d be coming. Anything you need us to do, just tell us.’ He said, before looking to the rest of us. He raised his eyebrow as his eyes passed over me, before he nodded respectfully in greeting. I nodded subtly back, as Steve looked around.

‘We need everyone off the streets. How far does the city centre stretch?’ Steve asked, and the general sighed.

‘About a kilometer to the Liffey, and then another five-k after that. It’s no New York, but it’s big. On the other side of the Liffey, and from here southbound, it’s mainly residential. From here, it’s about a four-k radius. We’re pretty much in the middle. The city is about a third bigger than Manhattan, but there are a lot of towns very close.'

Steve nodded, looking around, before meeting O’ Connor’s gaze. ‘Get half of your men over to the other side of the river. Keep people off the street. Get the cops working with you. We need to try to contain this. We’ll cover as much ground as we can.’ He told him, before turning to us.

‘Stark, Thor, get in the sky. The slightest whisper of the portal opening, let us know. Clint, Nat, get down that street, onto the next one. Clint, find the highest point you can, and get on top of it. Pick out anything you can see. Loki… Do whatever you can.’ He said, before O’ Connor spoke up.

‘Go straight down that street. Follow it the whole way to the river, then turn right. There’s a skyscraper with ‘Heineken written on it. Tell them that I sent you and get up to the roof. It’s one of the tallest buildings in the city.’ He told him. Clint nodded his gratitude, before he and Nat sprinted off.

‘Johnny, follow that street and get in the sky. Try to keep an eye on any civilians around the park.’ Steve ordered, before O’Connor contributed again.

‘There’s another, bigger park about twenty minutes down the road that way.’ He said, pointing off in the opposite direction. ‘It’s twice the size of Central Park. There’s a huge concentration of people around it. It’s also where the President lives.’ O’ Connor said, gulping nervously. Steve looked to him with a frown.

‘Is he…?’ he trailed off as O’ Connor shook his head.

‘No sir. He’s down at the other end of the country right now…’ I stopped listening, walking out, away from the trees, and looking to the sky, shielding my eyes from the sun. Five hour difference. It was five am back home. And here, the sun was already up and at it. I blew out through narrow lips, taking the slips off my guns, and taking the safeties off.  I checked my watch, before sighing shakily, looking back to the sky, looking for the spark.
