The sun streaming through the curtains woke you up. Your eyes burned at first, but they soon adjusted to the rays of light. You let out a yawn and stretched as you sat up. It was going to be a beautiful day.
You swung your legs over the edge of the bed, your feet making contact with the fluffy carpet. You stood up and walked towards your open bedroom door. The thought of it being a good day made you smile as you made your way down the hall and into the bathroom.
You switched the shower on and waited for the water to heat up. As you waited, you shed your pajamas and grabbed a bar of soap. Once the water was hot enough, you got in and began to get freshened up.

After showering for an hour, you were now in your bedroom getting changed. You had decided to wear a pair of black shorts with an ATL tank top. You finished your outfit with a pair of converse, and once you were happy with your hair, you went downstairs to get some breakfast.
Once you had gotten downstairs, you went into the kitchen and made yourself a bowl of cereal. You hummed a tune to yourself, one that you must had made up.
You took a drink of water after finishing your cereal. You put your bowl and cup in the sink before walking out of the kitchen and heading towards the front door. Before you opened the door, you grabbed your house keys and your phone. As you stepped outside, you shut and locked the door behind you. You breathed in the fresh, warm air and smiled. After taking in the air, you set off down the street, heading towards Hot Topic, where you were going to purchase an ‘Austin Carlile or Die’ shirt.
~~~~
You finally arrived at your destination after walking for thirty minutes. The sun was really testing you. It felt like it was getting hotter and hotter by the minute.
You walked into the store and saw what you had came for. On the left, there were the shirts, and a crowd of girls standing by them. You walked over to the shirts and grinned.
"Ha, ‘Austin Carlile or Die’? I would rather die than wear something with his name on it. He is pathetic and just screams. Screaming isn’t music, it’s just a horrible noise. Him and the rest of Of Mice and Men are stupid and shit." a girl with blond hair said. Her group of friends laughed in agreement.
After hearing that, you felt your temper rising.
"Yeah, they’re all pathetic. And I heard he got beat up in school. Ha, he’s so pathetic he couldn’t even defend himself. What a pussy." a brunette said.
That was enough. You put the shirt carefully onto the rack and walked over to the group of girls, who all gave you a weird look.
"What do you want?" the blond said.
"I think the question is what do you want? A punch? A beating? ‘Cause I will happily give it to you. How fucking dare you say that about Austin! He was bullied by groups. Groups are hard to fight back against. Austin is an inspiration to many, many people, who love and respect him. He went through shit his entire life, and he lost his mum. You don’t fucking know what it’s like to lose someone or to be beaten up throughout your childhood, so shut the fuck up. Have you seen how far Austin has gotten in life? No, I suppose you haven’t because of all the shit you have on your faces!” you exclaimed, making the girls, and most people in the store stare at you. “So, please do everyone a favor and go. Just go away.”
The girls looked at you with wide eyes. They were speechless, except for the blond.
"Oh, we’re going. And we won’t be coming back to this sweat filled place." As she walked to the exit, she waved a hand in the air, signalling for the group to follow her. They did as they were told and ran after her.
When the all disappeared from the exit, you exhaled a long breath.
"Wow.. Thank you.." you heard a voice say from behind you. It made you turn around, and when you laid eyes on the person, you were shocked. The voice belonged to Austin Carlile. The man you had stood up for.
"Uh.. y-you’re w-welcome.." you stuttered, a faint blush making an appearance on your cheeks.
"I really mean it. Thank you so much." he said with a smile, which only made you blush more. His smile was perfect.
You tried to say something, but nothing came it. You were so shocked, you couldn’t say anything. Austin let out a chuckle.
"Hey.. you’re cute. Mind if I have your number?" he asked with hope in his eyes.
"Um.. yeah.. I mean, no.. I-I don’t m-mind.." With a shaky hand, you took out your phone and gave Austin your number. He did the same, putting his number under ‘Squidgy’. You instantly knew what it meant, and you would always remember who it would be.
